IHG One Rewards has announced a new global promotion following a fallow two months when only targetted offers were made available.

IHG One Rewards is the loyalty scheme covering InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza and Hotel Indigo among other brands.

You need to register here.

IHG One Rewards Autumn promotion

You can learn more about IHG One Rewards in our overview article here.

How does IHG’s new bonus points promotion work?

The offer runs from 1st April to 31st May.

You must register in advance via this link. Registration is now open.

What will you earn?

As you can see:

…. you will earn 2,000 bonus points for every two cash nights you stay during the offer period.

Reward stays do NOT count.

Existing bookings DO count so there is no need to rebook anything.  Only one room per stay counts towards the offer, so if you are booking multiple rooms you should put each in a different name.

Your nights do not need to be back to back.

What is the bonus worth?

The standard earning rate in IHG One Rewards is 10 points per US$1 (79p) excluding taxes.  I value an IHG One Rewards point at 0.4p although you can often do better, which means your base return is 4p per 79p spent, ie just over 5.0%.

Of course, most HfP readers will have some sort of IHG One Rewards status.  This comes with a status bonus (applies to base points only):

  • 20% bonus for Silver Elite
  • 40% bonus for Gold Elite
  • 60% bonus for Platinum Elite
  • 100% bonus for Diamond Elite
IHG One Rewards Summer promotion

Under this offer, and assuming you do an exact multiple of two nights, you get an extra 1,000 points (£4) per night.

This means that the offer is heavily geared towards people doing low value stays at, say, Holiday Inn Express-style hotels. There isn’t much here for anyone planning a week at InterContinental Maldives.

Conclusion

£4 of bonus points per night is unlikely to move your needle much, even if your nights are all at a Holiday Inn Express.

That said, clearly you’d be silly not to register – click here to register – if you will do the nights anyway.

The offer kicks in for stays from 1st April but you can register today.

  • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

    Meh.

This is the same promo as the current one (and IIRC the one before that).

    Hardly earth shaking.

They could mix it up a bit by making the bonus points count for status for example

    • Qrfan says:

They could mix it up by making some of their mid range hotels less rubbish. Every time I pick an IHG hotel for location I regret not driving further.

      • Qrfan says:

Except for the staybridge suites. Those are generally good, Heathrow included.

  • Nick says:

On registration I got the 2K points/2 nights, but also added was “Just for you: an extra 4K points every 4 nights”, with the same start & expiry dates.

  • PG says:

Does this stack with the Iberostar 40k offer?

  • Scott says:

Just the 2k per 2 nights for me. Got one night booked next month already, and sure to have a few more.
Might not be much, but it all adds up, and if bonus points packages are cheap I.e. 5k points for £20, then I’ll add one of them for qualifying points.

  • tw33ty says:

A bonus is a bonus no matter how small, but it’s not going to get me to move my stays that I already have booked and it’s not going to drive me to pick ihg at this rate.

If I stay I stay, and it’s a little bonus, but won’t get me picking ihg over another chain for 1000 points

  • Vit says:

Hi Rob, will this stack with a rather random offer I have got through my email yesterday “Stay Twice, Get 10,000 Bonus Points” offer?

  • John says:

Buying points is still cheaper for some stays I’ve reserved. Hoping for another Amex offer

  • holyphuket says:

will this stack with my personalised 8k per 4 nights do you reckon? That offer ends on 31/3 and crosses on the validity on this one.
