Norse Atlantic has launched a new route from London Gatwick to Las Vegas.

Flights will start on 12th September and operate three days per week, leaving London on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.

Norse Atlantic launches Gatwick to Las Vegas flights

As with all Norse flights, you get a modern Boeing 787 aircraft and a two class cabin – economy and premium economy. The airline inherited Norwegian’s long haul fleet when the latter moved to being a purely short haul airline.

We rate Norse Premium highly. It has, by a huge margin, the most personal space of any competing premium economy seat. You can also see how Norse Atlantic’s premium economy compares to British Airways and Virgin Atlantic here.

Economy is, well, economy. The only problem is that Norse charges for literally everything, including meals, so the headline price (£399 return in this case) is a long way from what you will end up spending.

Personally I don’t see this as a problem! Even if you choose all the optional extras, to bring the fare close to say BA or Virgin, at least it’s your choice, and you won’t have say a sub standard meal thrust upon you if you don’t want it. Choice is good!

This is the exact point of low-cost long-haul! It is these historic concepts that LCCs always fight against….they are simply providing transport. We wouldn’t look at an 8 hour train or coach journey and complain that it doesn’t include being fed and watered. Also, with the increasing amount of food allergies why rely on a very limited selection of food that may or may not even be to your taste. Always plan for delays and NEVER get on a flight hungry….it won’t get better on board.

      • Gordon says:

That’s exactly the point I was trying to make! You have a choice, and are not forced to pay for something (IE meals/drinks)you may not want!

        • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

That’s the problem though. a lot of people don’t read the info about needing to pay for meals or luggage or whatever so they get annoyed when they don’t get them because they just expected to get them – especially on long haul.

          • Gordon says:

I’m hoping it’s the minority and not the majority of people that don’t get this, as surely the price point tells them that! The start date price on 12/9/24 Norse LAS £399 Return vs Virgin £817. If they cannot see that then I’m lost for words!

There’s one very important line that’s often missed out in the allowances in articles.

**Everyone can also bring one airport shopping bag in addition to their ticket type allowance.**

I can manage for a week with a small bag, a hotel with a laundry and Bold tab in my liquids bag if I can buy a meal deal, sunscreen, toothpaste and deodorant in Boots and take that on as my “Airport Shopping”.

It makes a £260 return flight to Orlando this April very enticing.

      • Gordon says:

To somewhere hot, agreed, a few pairs of shorts tee shirts and underwear and your set, I treated the granddaughters in November, the parks were busy, parking fee had just increased, Enjoy 😎

      • Richie says:

Don’t forget to save the bag for next time you have airport shopping.

When you get to the US you are not going to be living cheap

I wonder if Norse can successfully turn the route into a year round operation? I seem to recall Norwegian had operational issues with the 787 during the summer months – load had to be limited due to the hot and high departure from LAS. Not an issue during the winter, but a 16:45 departure in the summer would regularly put it in the 40+ deg. C. temperature range.

    • Gordon says:

That could be a problem, but I guess the schedule may be reduced during the summer months because of the lack of leisure pax because of the heat, majority will be business pax.

      • ScotLAN says:

From my experience Vegas is still a massively popular tourist destination during the high summer, even from the UK. The incredibly high air temperatures are mitigated by it at least being a dry heat, the ubiquity of air conditioning and pools, and the fact that once the sun sets, you’re left with a pleasant upper 20s temperature. Doesn’t make operating a high capacity 787 during the day any easier though😁

        • Gordon says:

I visited last April and the temperature was hot enough for me around 30c, I like to venture out without feeling too uncomfortable, I’m not a spring chicken anymore, but I get people will still visit when it’s like an oven. I wished the hotels would do something about smoking in the rooms, the stench of weed in the corridors was atrocious! That was in the Aria!

    • Richie says:

If you have switched your body clock over to NV time, 16:45 is an early departure for a night flight.

      • ScotLAN says:

True, we usually get BA274 home as it allows a full final day in Vegas, and its late timing is great for getting sleep and trying to reset your internal clock. Did the late afternoon BA to Gatwick for the first time last year and while the timings were good, didn’t sleep nearly as well.

        • Richie says:

BA274 is also an A350 with CS.

          • Gordon says:

We had the old layout unfortunately, BA 2277 & BA 2276, getting to try the CS finally to NBO in august, and IB to BOG in Dec.

2,000 Avios Wine Flyer bonus is on 12 bottle cases – so no deal on the Luxury Whites.

    • Rob says:

Wrong. Put the case in your basket and see.

      • tony says:

That’s interesting because the site very clearly says “Get 2,000 bonus Avios on any 12-bottle wine case”

Hopefully it doesn’t get clawed back…

  • Gareth says:

My Amex offer is spend £150 for 2,500 avios unfortunately

  • Peter says:

The 2000 avios voucher does show at checkout for cases of 6 even though offer on page says cases of 12. BTW Avios site offer credited instantly. Amex offer will take a few days I suspect.

  • Bobby says:

3000 avios on £100 wine flyer spend, thanks fir the reminder

  • NigelHamilton says:

Likewise 2,500 for £150, perhaps because I’ve used it before?

  • Richie says:

BTW Waitrose has 25% off 6 bottles of wine at the moment, not sure if it stacks with the recent Amex offer.
