News in brief:

Border Force strike action this week suspended

The threatend strike by Border Force officers at Heathrow this week has been suspended. The Public and Commercial Services Union has agreed to further talks with the Home Office.

Over 600 Border Force officials were planning to strike from 11th to 14th April.

Further talks on a proposed new rostering system will now take place. The union was concerned that staff with disabilities or caring responsibilities would be forced to quit their jobs over a lack of flexibility.

New British Airways American Express spend offer launched

A new spend offer has appeared on British Airways American Express Premium Plus cards.

My wife and I both have this although it is unclear how widespread it is. If it makes a difference, both of our cards have already triggered their 2-4-1 companion vouchers for the year and the cards are seeing little use.

We are offered 1,000 bonus Avios for spending £2,500+ on the card by 5th July. This can be done twice.

New BA Amex spend offer launched

There is one snag. There is an implication that the £2,500 must be done in one transaction. There is no mention of cumulative spend and the wording of ‘spend £2,500 or more up to two times’ also implies that it must be £2,500 in one shot.

I find it hard to believe that Amex is actually offering you a promo where you need to spend £2,500 in one go, but it isn’t clear.

You need to opt in to this offer, if you have it, via the ‘Offers’ tab of the Amex app or website.

I’ve got the BAPP offer. Only 6 weeks into my account year and using the card heavily. No logic to it.

  • Ian says:

Hilton on BA cards (x 4) but not Platinum or Business Platinum cards.

    Not that I would need 8 opportunities mind… 😂

  • JPa says:

They have no way of knowing what you are buying in store

  • JohnTh says:

Nice to see Hilton on BA main and Supp. Spend offer nicely stacks with Tier point offer (before May).

  • IanMacK says:

Offer not on my BAPP card.
2-4-1 earned September 2023, year ends June 2024.
Targetted for ‘recent low spenders’ ?

    • Alex G says:

I’ve spent £2k in the last six weeks. Am I a low spender? Maybe I am!

  • Mark says:

Offers on my BA Amex really seem to have dried up of late. I have a total of 11

    • Gareth says:

Same, the offers on my BA Amex Premium have been really poor and limited for months and i dont have this offer.

    • Kathryn says:

      I’ve got 8 and don’t have this one 🙁

    • Roy says:

Glad to know it’s not just me. Way, way fewer offers on both my BAPP and my Platt than I used to get.

Got the offer (same version as Rob) on my BAPP.

      • Roy says:

So just looked – I currently have 6 offers on my BAPP – not including the two I have saved (one of which is this one).

Still have a reasonable money of offers on my Plat, but feels fewer that normal.

  • Mark Fordham says:

No offer on any of my cards but am spending to achieve on the Tier point offer

  • Gosia44 says:

No offer on my BAPP. Voucher triggered last week.
