We went as a family last year and maxed out the Avios and hotel points we’d racked up with credit cards and work stays before and during the pandemic. I think we ended up paying for three hotel nights out of the two weeks we were there. The Holiday Inn at Disney springs is fab, the staff were so friendly, great breakfast and just a really great atmosphere, nothing fancy but just a really nice welcoming hotel, hourly shuttles to the parks and early entry, we had a fireworks view room. We stayed at the Hilton at Disney Springs for a night which was also really nice, but much bigger hotel and a bigger pool area with more features and a great location. We also had a couple of nights at the Signia at Bonnet Creek (Marriott) which shares a building with the Waldorf Astoria. There was building work going on while we were there and it is a big conference venue, didn’t really feel like a holiday place.

Free Disney dining. It doesn’t matter what you order, almost everything savoury is covered in cheese. You have been warned!

  • ukpolak says:

Have seen a few posts here and on other forums of people with multiple property stays over one vacation. Curious how you get on (2 days here, 3 days there, 1 day there) with the faff of unpacking, packing, moving and transport etc especially given you want a bit of a holiday and perhaps little ones to contend with, too?

We’re looking at a 2 week-er in Fl with one of those weeks in Orlando, but once I settle on a place in Orlando that will be it.

    • Yvo says:

We always do multiple hotel stays in Orlando largely because there’s so much choice plus we are price sensitive so might go further out over a weekend when prices rise etc. stay some places on points, some for cash.
Yes it’s a bit of a faff packing (we travel light and do washing on a two weeker) most little ones love exploring new hotels, that never gets boring for them. Can echo we have always found redemption flights at Easter and Feb half term – we almost perished in August heat the one time we visited in summer.

    • Ready2go says:

It’s fine, well worth moving for one or two nights to an onsite hotel at Disney or universal to take advantage of the early morning hours. One night gives 2 early morning hours as you can checkin really early but just not get your room, just need to be organised to take full advantage.

    • Murral says:

We just did a trip down the east coast to Orlando and stayed in a different place almost every night. I won’t lie – it was tough – but worth it to see all the different towns and cities we stopped in. I’d consider switching hotels once in Orlando if justified (for example to switch from Disney to Universal) but no more than that – don’t really see the sense in it!

This offer isnt new, and its only being covered by HfP because its a sponsored article. Really nothing new to see here.

  • Daisy says:

Disney just increases the prices when free dining is on offer, nothing at Disney is free. The best way is to rent points for one of the resorts through a DVC rental company, no free dining, but you save lots of money. Wished I had discovered it years ago instead having the nit so feee dining plan. The upside is you know you have everything covered if you do the dining plan.

  • BJ says:

Pleasantly surprised to see this article topping the comments today.must be a lot of big kids or families amongst the HfP readership.

    • Rob says:

Surprised us too! May also be the first time a sponsored article has been the most read piece of the day!

      • TeesTraveller says:

The demographic of UK visitors who go to Disney and stay at moderate and above hotels will skew pretty high due to the cost. For a family of 4 sharing, it’s hard to do it under £10k including park tickets and economy flights. Fly at the pointy end and throw in your holiday spends and you are well over £15k.

We have done Disney a few times over the years (ex-DUB is really the only way to get decent J flights to Florida although this is less of an issue if you don’t live near London (consider TPA as another option to MCO but do not transit at MIA). Booked next April for £1k each out of DUB (versus £2.5k prices direct out of LON).

Free dining is an amazing deal when your kids are still young enough to share a room but old enough to eat adult portions. I personally don’t think it is a brilliant deal (it’s still ok) if two are sharing but YMMV. The usual 30% off deal (later in the year) might work better for some people. Places like Travel Republic do the free dining offer but at a bit lower price, a much lower deposit and far better cancellation rules.

This has all been very informative indeed so thank you to the posters for all top tips!

Looks like for us it’ll be WDW Boardwalk Inn for 7 nights which benefits from being at the cheaper end of the Deluxe properties (early starts and extended evenings benefit). The Swan/Dolphin come out a little cheaper but there’s a lot less in it when including dining. A friend recommended the Contemporary Resort for firework views (£1k more) however no free dining options when I looked.

At the back of my mind is this offer expiring just before Black Friday, and it was on BF 2023 that I got stonking great rates for holidays year. Decisions decisions.

Now, if anyone has any recommendations for a Bonvoy beach resort somewhere in Florida for a further 5 nights on the 4+1 points promo, I am all (mickey!) ears. I have seen plenty of JWMs and Ritz Carltons on the Gulf Coast down from Clearwater through Sarasota, Naples and Marco Island and will trawl through over the next week or so.

    • Murral says:

Have you looked at Yacht and Beach Club? They’re our favourite resorts across WDW and the same price point as Boardwalk. The pool (which is closed for a few months next year) is absolutely incredible and we like the vibe better than Boardwalk.

      • ukpolak says:

Thanks Murral let me check – likewise lots of forums saying good things about these too. Appreciate it and will take a look.

        • Nick says:

We stayed at the Yacht club last year and it’s was a great choice. Like all Disney hotels the room wasn’t amazing for the price, but the location more than made up for this. Few minutes walk to Epcot and easy boat ride to Holywood Studios. The pool was fantastic and we enjoyed the movie night on the beach.

          • ukpolak says:

Thanks @Nick and @ Murral – oddly enough Boardwalk Inn comes in at £3851 for one week inc dining package, but Yacht and Beach resorts at £5300.

On closer inspection you don’t get the free dining with Yacht / Beach and also no standard rooms available when I click, ie £5300 gets resort view with club level which I don’t really care for.

So I can’t compare like for like just because Yacht and Beach don’t appear to have availability for a regular room with dining option.

Disney dark arts trying to flog certain hotels and rooms no doubt.

  • Dan Harrison says:

My father and I love the theme parks. We went in May 2024 and paid £2500 for flights and 2 weeks at the Aventura. Couldn’t fault it for that price.

We are going in November but staying at a villa up the 192. Cheaper, but lose the early entry to universal parks and easy walk in entry. Pros and cons to each. Dining deal we did back long ago and didnt maximise it at all.
