A new Hotel Indigo is opening in Leeds as one of the oldest hotels in the city is refurbished and rebranded.

Opened in 1890, the Cosmopolitan has been serving guests for over 130 years although in recent years the rooms were looking a bit dreary based on the photos I saw online.

A refurbishment program is underway under new ownership and is due to complete in 2025. The hotel will rebrand as a Hotel Indigo at that point and become part of IHG One Rewards.

Cosmopolitan Leeds becomes a Hotel Indigo

Hotel Indigo is IHG’s funky four-star brand aimed at boutique hotels with character.

They can be exceptionally good and are often the best hotel in the towns where they operate. Rob’s review of Hotel Indigo Bath gives you a good feel for the chain.

When finished, the hotel will have 107 rooms, two meeting rooms and a Banksia restaurant and bar. It will join 160 other Hotel Indigo properties worldwide with another 130 in the pipeline as the brand enters its 20th year.

PS. Leeds will also see two new Hyatt hotels soon, with a ‘two in one’ Hyatt Place and Hyatt House close to opening. Bookings are not yet being accepted.
