Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

NEW: Get 9,000 Avios for £149.99 of wine by combining two generous The Wine Flyer deals

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

The Wine Flyer, the Avios-run wine retailer, is two years old.

To celebrate, it is running two bonus Avios offers simultaneously which you can stack.

If you qualify for both, you can earn up to 9,000 Avios with a £149.99 spend. A £129.99 spend earns up to 7,000 Avios.

This deal partly ends on Sunday 20th October so you need to move quickly.

Wine Flyer

To maximise your bonus you need access to two deals.

This is the offer you will see advertised on The Wine Flyer website:

  • 5,000 bonus Avios for spending £149.99 on a pre-mixed 12-bottle case using code AUTUMNBONUS

or

  • 3,000 bonus Avios for spending £129.99 on a pre-mixed 12-bottle case using code AUTUMNBONUS

You can see the range of pre-mixed cases here. Only 12-bottle cases qualify for the offer.

The expiry date for this offer is 20th October.

You can stack this offer with one of two deals which currently appear on the two British Airways American Express credit cards:

or

The expiry date for this offer is 31st October.

You need to opt in to the American Express bonus via the ‘Offers’ page of the Amex app or website BEFORE making your purchase. If you have the Premium Plus card, you are looking for this:

The Wine Flyer American Express offer

How do you get the offer?

It’s easy enough. Head to The Wine Flyer website, put a 12-bottle mixed case from this page in your cart and add code ‘AUTUMNBONUS’.

You will see 5,000 bonus Avios added to your basket if you have spent £149.99+ or 3,000 bonus Avios added if you have spent between £129.99 and £149.98.

Remember to pay with the British Airways American Express card you registered for the 2nd part of the deal – the additional 4,000 or 3,000 Avios offer. These Avios will appear on your next British Airways American Express statement.

In the most generous scenario, someone who spends £149.99+ and pays with their British Airways American Express Premium Plus card would receive 9,000 bonus Avios. 5,000 Avios will arrive immediately from The Wine Flyer – plus the base Avios for your purchase – and the additional 4,000 Avios will come with your next American Express statement. You can’t argue with that.

If you want to combine both offers, I suggest you order ASAP because the AUTUMNBONUS code expires on Sunday 20th October.

If you are not interested in any of the 12-bottle cases on offer, you could trigger the American Express part of the offer by spending £100 (free card) or £125 (Premium Plus card) on a few select bottles by 31st October.

Delivery is free if you spend over £100. However, The Wine Flyer does not deliver to Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, The Isle of Man and BFPO addresses.

  • David Kemp says:

That’s exactly what I did, also remember you get the base Avios on the purchase too – the case I ordered came with 780 base + 5000 bonus + 4000 from Amex. Cracking deal

  • Paul says:

Plus you’ll get 750 Avios for the case of wine too

  • Qrfan says:

Every time I order from wine flyer I seem to get a 3k Avios code in the box for my next order if placed in the next few months.

    • Alan says:

They’ve clearly priced their wine to be able to make offers, but this combo does sound seem very good. If you want to buy Avios at 1p then it’s like £5 a bottle.

      • Richie says:

You’ll get at least 2 bottles that are undrinkable, so more like £6 per bottle. You could possibly find a much better wine in a local retailer with the Vivino app at £6 or a bit more per bottle.

      • Erico1875 says:

or you could just boost your Avios at 0.9p and buy your wine from Aldi 😀

  • Gordon says:

Plus you get 5 Avios for every pound spent on BA Amex card so more like 9750 Avios

  • Wayne Jones says:

Thanks for that brilliant tip. I usually find the Wineflyer too expensive with Laithwaites offering much better deals, but the double whammy Avios offer makes the stuff much more affordable and there is plenty of choice

  • James W says:

Nothing on my BA Amex….must have used it previously..

  • LittleNick says:

Is any of the wine actually good? Any bottles not so good? Are we letting the tail wag the dog?

    • Richie says:

      Some slightly above average.
      Yes.
      IMHO Yes.

    • Scott says:

I think this is a key point. As mentioned in comments above, you’re buying a case of 12 at £5 per bottle. Could you go to your local supermarket and for a similar price get wine just as good/bad ? Probably yes, so doesn’t seem like much of a deal.

      • Rob says:

As you’ve not tried it, it’s a debatable point! Outside of these offers WF is selling the same wines at £10+ per bottle.

You can also buy a couple of bottle of champagne to just trigger the 4,000 Avios for your BAPP card and you will definitely be undercutting supermarket pricing.

        • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

“WF is selling the same wines at £10+ per bottle.”

Price is no guarentee of quality.

        • ken says:

While customer acquisition is the lifeblood of all online retail and subscription businesses, do you not think the huge marketing costs of acquiring one off customers isn’t reflected in those £10+ bottles ?

There’s usually a reason why these ‘clubs’ have fake label wines and don’t generally engage with wine journalists.

    • LittleNick says:

The deal is more buying the points and the wine is the bonus thrown in 😂

  • Alun says:

I’ve got 5000 avios for a £50 spend at Which? That also seems like a steal.
