Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

NEW: Get 9,000 Avios for £149.99 of wine by combining two generous The Wine Flyer deals

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

The Wine Flyer, the Avios-run wine retailer, is two years old.

To celebrate, it is running two bonus Avios offers simultaneously which you can stack.

If you qualify for both, you can earn up to 9,000 Avios with a £149.99 spend. A £129.99 spend earns up to 7,000 Avios.

This deal partly ends on Sunday 20th October so you need to move quickly.

Wine Flyer

To maximise your bonus you need access to two deals.

This is the offer you will see advertised on The Wine Flyer website:

  • 5,000 bonus Avios for spending £149.99 on a pre-mixed 12-bottle case using code AUTUMNBONUS

or

  • 3,000 bonus Avios for spending £129.99 on a pre-mixed 12-bottle case using code AUTUMNBONUS

You can see the range of pre-mixed cases here. Only 12-bottle cases qualify for the offer.

The expiry date for this offer is 20th October.

You can stack this offer with one of two deals which currently appear on the two British Airways American Express credit cards:

or

The expiry date for this offer is 31st October.

You need to opt in to the American Express bonus via the ‘Offers’ page of the Amex app or website BEFORE making your purchase. If you have the Premium Plus card, you are looking for this:

The Wine Flyer American Express offer

How do you get the offer?

It’s easy enough. Head to The Wine Flyer website, put a 12-bottle mixed case from this page in your cart and add code ‘AUTUMNBONUS’.

You will see 5,000 bonus Avios added to your basket if you have spent £149.99+ or 3,000 bonus Avios added if you have spent between £129.99 and £149.98.

Remember to pay with the British Airways American Express card you registered for the 2nd part of the deal – the additional 4,000 or 3,000 Avios offer. These Avios will appear on your next British Airways American Express statement.

In the most generous scenario, someone who spends £149.99+ and pays with their British Airways American Express Premium Plus card would receive 9,000 bonus Avios. 5,000 Avios will arrive immediately from The Wine Flyer – plus the base Avios for your purchase – and the additional 4,000 Avios will come with your next American Express statement. You can’t argue with that.

If you want to combine both offers, I suggest you order ASAP because the AUTUMNBONUS code expires on Sunday 20th October.

If you are not interested in any of the 12-bottle cases on offer, you could trigger the American Express part of the offer by spending £100 (free card) or £125 (Premium Plus card) on a few select bottles by 31st October.

Delivery is free if you spend over £100. However, The Wine Flyer does not deliver to Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, The Isle of Man and BFPO addresses.

    Or 4000 ?

  • Alan Braiden says:

Rob and Team. I am a frequent visitor to you your content and enjoy the information. However I should point out that after trying to use the Wineflyer Avios offer I discovered that they will not deliver to Northern Ireland despite it being part of the UK. Other wine shipments e.g. Laithwaites or Naked Wines do not discriminate!! Just a point

    • Rob says:

Noted. I checked the delivery page last night and this wasn’t mentioned, hence I would have put it in.

      • Jane Benson says:

Hi Rob, the page states “We deliver throughout the UK except for Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, The Isle of Man and BFPO addresses.” in the FAQ’s. I also have read that the Northern Ireland aspect relates to Avios and the use of reward points for alcohol – this may explain it?

    • Barry cutters says:

It’s not really discrimination though is it.

I have a business in Carlisle but I don’t do delivery to Manchester. I’m not discriminating, its just going to cost too much to make it viable for me to do that.

I’m sure if the business could do that for the same price then they would surely want to do it.

      • Scott says:

Well you are discriminating, but that’s ok 🙂

Discrimination in itself isn’t necessarily a ‘bad’ thing, it’s just that some reasons for discrimination sre unacceptable.

  • Charlieq says:

Wine Flyer uses Parcel Force for their deliveries. And Parcel Force, more often than not, will automatically deliver your parcel to your local Post Office if you are not in, or were not quick enough to get to your door, of if the Parcel Force driver is running a bit late and chooses to dump his or her parcels at the Post Office for collection. Add to that, Wine Flyer customer support is appalling, plus as has been noted, even with the multiples of Avios discounting the price, it’s hit and miss, depending on the wine. Plus Parcel Force and appalling customer service. I very much doubt Wine Flyer will be around by Q3 2025.

    • rdmlondon says:

DPD delivered my order, not Parcelforce.

      • Alison says:

Had a few Wineflyer deliveries via Parcelfarce but the most recent was via DPD, maybe they’ve switched.

    • Mark says:

Yup, seconded on the awful service from Royal Mail/Parcel Force. The worst thing Amazon have done is outsource some of their deliveries to these jokers – they never arrive.

    • Charlie says:

If they have started using DPD, then great. My issue last year was that it was impractical for an 83 year old to collect a box of 12 bottles of wine from the local Post Office, after the Parcel Force driver had done a ‘drive by’. In the end, I had to do a chargeback with Amex due to the appalling customer service. ‘Vicky’ isn’t some chap in India – it is worse than that: it is a tiny operation with only a handful of employees.

  • Simon Fisher says:

Thanks for the heads up on this, my order is placed and my (bonus) Avios are already in my account.

The comments make me smile, so much negativity, we all have a choice!

  • PB2 says:

The 3 champagne case (doesn’t actually need to be 12 bottles) for £132, minus “£36.60” of Avios plus a further “40.00” of Avios via Amex = £18.50 a bottle. Can’t argue with that!

  • SteveCroydon says:

I had an open browser window with the The Wine Flyer Mixed Favourites case sitting in my basket at £149.99 with the AUTUMNBONUS applied. I’ve just come back to the PC, after 4-5 hours, to see that the price has increased dynamically to £159.99. However, the Avios hasn’t been increased from 750 to 800, being as it’s 5 Avios per pound – they missed that one when pulling a fast one and stiffing-up the price. I assume that they are seeing a demand and chancing their arm. When will BA ever learn?!?!

    • Charlieq says:

Factor in one bottle will be broken (at least) due to poor packaging, even with the bonus Avios you’re still paying £5+ for wine LIDL wouldn’t sell for that price. You’re paying £150 for £90 of Avios, plus £5 per bottle, plus hassle sorting out the inevitable nonsense. Oh, and check out some of those £15 bottles currently retailing in Spain for about £3….

      • Alex G says:

I got an order from TWF a couple of weeks ago. It was incredibly well packaged. Probably over packaged compared with Laithwaites etc.

    • RJWillz says:

I just spotted that, as I am waiting until Sunday to purchase as my new CV starts, a little frustrating but looks like the some of the wine have been changed… I think everyone trying to spend no more than £149.99 and its been popular!

    • SteveCroydon says:

Further to my post above. I submitted a complaint to TWF and Vicky called me back within 10 minutes. TWF have increased the price by £10 as they have remixed the selection of wines within “The Wine Flyer Favourites” case. They appreciate that such a change should be flagged-up or a new name chosen.
Vicky clarified that they now use DPD, not ParcelFarce (sic) and they have improved packaging.
I mus say, I’ve contacted TWF a couple of times with issues and they (Vicky) respond incredibly quickly. Many thanks Vicky.

      • Scott says:

You do know that “Vicky” is actually a chap called Gopalkrishna working from a call centre in Pune?

        • SteveCroydon says:

No @Scott , she really is a lovely lady based just north of London. No language problems at all!! It’s Amex and SKY with awful overseas call centres, staffed by people who achieve nothing, read from scripts and just go round and round and round and … …

  • MK says:

hi, thanks for this and what a great find – i was about to do it, but seems ”part 2” to opt in from the amex BA premium plus card has been removed from their offer. any ideas please? thank you.

  • Colin MacKinnon says:

Friday, it allowed the Rose Champagne pack of three AUTUMNBONUS, as well as the regular Champagne three-pack.
    Saturday evening, it didn’t!

    • Colin MacKinnon says:

Ended up buying the Christmas Whites – £169.99. Minus 4,000 Amex avios and 5,800 WF avios (at 1p each), that is £72 – ie £6.00 a bottle.

That’s below the Scottish govt’s Minimum alcohol pricing of £6.09 for a typical bottle of wine! So good for cooking, at least!
