Accor’s TRIBE hotel opens at Manchester Airport

After some delays, Accor has partially opened its TRIBE hotel at Manchester Airport.

I think, although I am sure regulars can confirm in the comments, that this will be the nearest hotel to the airport railway station although you will need to cross a road to get to it.

I have never stayed at a TRIBE (this is only the second UK site after Canary Wharf) but it has a citizenM / Moxy feel to it.

Tribe Manchester Airport hotel

Standard rooms are small at 17 sq m although there are larger ‘Extra’ rooms at 27 sq m. Some standard rooms only have atrium views.

The size of the building disguises the number of rooms. There will be a whopping 412 of them when the hotel is fully open, although for now only the lower floors are operating. This should mean that the restaurant and bar are not too busy.

We are likely to be up in Manchester soon to try aether, the private terminal, which (re)opens on 4th November so we will try to tie in a TRIBE stay.

You can find out more about TRIBE Manchester Airport, and book, here.

Presidents circle comes with Amex Platinum.

I use it regularly in the USA, however the choice of vehicles will vary.

Note that you can still pick a car from the Ultimate Choice area even if you have a dedicated car elsewhere.

I tend to always book the lowest car that I would like to drive. Then hope for something better.

I think it might have done in the past, now you only get Five Star. You get Avis Presidents Club though.

  • Magic Mike says:

National have something similar for Executive and Executive Elite members. I always book a midsize car and in the past have had Audi A5s, VW Beetle convertibles and once an orange Dodge Charger…

This is only an option at certain large airport locations in the US, collect from a downtown location and you typically get what you’re given. A check of Flyertalk is a good idea…

    Hi
Is this the same Hertz membership level as what Amex platinum offers?
This offer is valid until 31/12 , should I apply now or wait until just before my next rental mid – November
Thanks in advance for any help/advice 😉

I wasn’t aware that Presidents circle came with Amex Platinum. It provides Avis presidents membership but only gold plus rewards at Hertz.
Like Rob I too have Hertz Presidents circle I got it via some obscure link up with Lufthansa a very long time ago. I think it was highlighted here at the time or perhaps LL

Amex Plat gives you Avis President’s Circle and Hertz Gold Plus. However, Hertz will status match the Avis President’s Circle to their own.

I have used Hertz twice this week and my status wasn’t mentioned and no upgrade was provided on one rental.. I also used Avis in last 10 days and they too failed to mention status but did give me an upgrade.
It’s a very mixed bag with car hire

I’ve stayed at TRIBE hotel in Canary Wharf a couple of times. The rooms are very very small, in fact the smallest I’ve stayed in outside of Japan. Having ALL Platinum status got me nothing extra from what I remember, I have had better rooms/stays at ibis and ibis Styles in London and overseas. And TRIBE is expensive for what you get (then again most/all of London is overpriced)..

    • SBIre says:

The restaurant (called Feels like June) is decent though, had a surprisingly great brunch there last weekend. Best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had

  • meta says:

Stayed at Tribe Paris Clichy. I got upgraded to Extra Terrace which was nice (from basic to top room). Terrace was huge.

Tribe for me is between W and Aloft in terms of interior design. There were few things that did not work for me – no mini bar, sockets/usb ports were behind bedside table at low level (had to move the table to get to them), desk chair was too low as was the sofa. In general, it was more style over functionality. I’m in two minds whether I’d stay again or not.

    • TGLoyalty says:

      Looks like a Moxy competitor?

      • meta says:

Sligthy above Moxy as the rooms have Nespresso machines (or maybe upgraded one) and higher end toiletries.

    • Lady London says:

I liked the Hampton there but it’s best not to stay on the depressing side of the building (you’ll know, if you’ve been there). They do seem to remember you from stay to stay).

  • CJD says:

Linking to the KLM website rather than Air France would make more sense given the former has far greater UK coverage than the latter surely?

    • Rob says:

Websites are identical, but may swap the link for those who don’t know that!
