Accor’s TRIBE hotel opens at Manchester Airport

After some delays, Accor has partially opened its TRIBE hotel at Manchester Airport.

I think, although I am sure regulars can confirm in the comments, that this will be the nearest hotel to the airport railway station although you will need to cross a road to get to it.

I have never stayed at a TRIBE (this is only the second UK site after Canary Wharf) but it has a citizenM / Moxy feel to it.

Tribe Manchester Airport hotel

Standard rooms are small at 17 sq m although there are larger ‘Extra’ rooms at 27 sq m. Some standard rooms only have atrium views.

The size of the building disguises the number of rooms. There will be a whopping 412 of them when the hotel is fully open, although for now only the lower floors are operating. This should mean that the restaurant and bar are not too busy.

We are likely to be up in Manchester soon to try aether, the private terminal, which (re)opens on 4th November so we will try to tie in a TRIBE stay.

You can find out more about TRIBE Manchester Airport, and book, here.

I spotted this IHG/Hertz promo about a month ago so applied as I had an upcoming rental from Orlando. I received the email confirming that the upgrade had been actioned however nowhere could I see which account it had been applied to or anything on Hertz telling me this. I found it somewhat surprising that during the upgrade process I wasn’t asked for any details of my Hertz account.

I am Diamond Elite until 31/12/2024, going to the rewards wallet or using the direct link doesnt work for me, anyone else the same?

    • Nick says:

I had it in my IHG app rewards wallet, but not on my IHG PC website wallet, so may be worth trying the app, if you haven’t already.

  • John says:

Many months ago, maybe it was even in 2023, I clicked a link from IHG to apply for the Hertz status. Nothing happened at the time and I didn’t bother about it, but a few weeks ago I suddenly got an unexpected email saying I had been given the Hertz status.

Presidents circle in Houston was interesting.
Waved straight through to parking lot, needed a physical credit card in car park and was then told help yourself to anything in the presidents circle.

Presidents circle appeared to be the majority of the lot and was full of standard sedans and I’d rented a EV SUV as I wanted to try the US charge infrastructure.

Took them an hour to sort but finally got the car I ordered in the first place.

Everyone was very jolly but it was a right mess.

Had I ordered a small car I’d have been delighted though.

Agree with Rob’s cynicism generally on car hire loyalty, but the benefits can be very useful. Any type of Avis Preferred lets you skip the (often lengthy) queue, and last week when they were announcing a 2-hour wait for regular customers, Preferred ones had reserved cars. Fairly rubbish ones yes, but avoiding the wait was absolutely an enormous benefit.

    • Scott says:

Last time I rented as Avis car as Avis preferred, there was one queue for Budget and Avis, and would have had to queue for up to 2hrs to get my docs checked.
      Nothing “preferred” at all.

I’ve booked the tribe for an early morning flight in Feb. I’ve also booked the CP on points. Not convinced I will stay at both as I think Radisson at around 5am in February may be alittle more convenient.

I have done 4 multi-week Hertz rentals from DFW in the last three months.
The first my name was not on the board – I went to the counter and they said “You are President’s Circle so choose anything from that aisle”.
The second I was Gold. the third and fourth I was FiveStar (these not anonymous)
Pricing is all over the place – E.g. two days ago the smallest car was 2.8* the cheapest.
So at DFW if you have status, book the cheapest and pick your car when you get there.

  • Seb says:

Has the IHG/Hertz offer been taken down? Both IHG app and website only show a Hertz banner with no form to complete on the page. Is the how others are now seeing it?
