DragonPass now offering fast track security passes – no membership required

DragonPass, the airport lounge card and loyalty benefits group, has been quietly rolling out its airport fast track security and fast track immigration lane products over the last 18 months.

What makes this interesting is that, whilst it is primarily available for its members, you can buy passes on a ‘pay as you go’ basis at selected airports.

You don’t need to have DragonPass access via its apps or via any of its banking partner platforms such as DragonPass Premier+.

Heathrow Fast Track security

You can see the airports covered on the DragonPass Go website here. If you’re about to head off for an autumn break, it may be worth a look.

You can buy passes for many terminals across Europe, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, which are the regions currently covered. In the UK this includes:

  • London Gatwick (both terminals)
  • London Luton
  • London Stansted
  • Manchester (all terminals)
  • Newcastle
  • Southampton

Prices, advance booking deadlines and cancellation rules vary by airport.

Here are some examples for the fast track security product. At Gatwick, you pay $6 (yes, $ pricing) at both the North and South terminals. It is possible to book the same day that you travel.

At Luton, you pay $7.50. Same day booking is possible.

At Stansted, on the other hand, you pay $10 and need to book 12 hours in advance of turning up.

Where can you use fast track passes outside the UK?

Annoyingly there isn’t a dedicated list on the DragonPass website yet. You need to search by airport (remember that only UK, Middle East and Asia Pacific airports offer fast track) and you will then see what DragonPass products are available.

Popular airports for HfP readers where fast track security can be booked via DragonPass Go include:

  • Barcelona
  • Istanbul
  • Larnaca
  • Madrid
  • Nice
  • Palma
  • Rome

If you have access to the DragonPass Premier+ app via your bank you can also buy fast track security passes for airports such as:

  • Abu Dhabi
  • Dubai (all terminals)
  • Helsinki
  • Milan
  • Venice

The DragonPass Premier+ app is available to Barclays Travel Plus Pack, Barclays Avios Rewards and Barclays Avios Plus holders as a benefit.

The DragonPass Go website for fast track security passes is here if you want to buy or find out more.

  • Terry says:

The Lloyds/Halifax World Elite Mastercards also include unlimited free DragonPass fast track security passes.

  • daveinitalia says:

Bologna airport (BLQ) has its lounge landside and everyone who accesses the lounge whether by paid entry, lounge card or airline access is able to use fast track. Most of the time there’s a dedicated security channel from the lounge but if it’s closed for some reason you can use the fast track in the main security area (when you scan your boarding pass in the lounge it updates their system to show fast track eligible)

  • Dubious says:

My barber / hairdresser has introduced an optional ‘skip-the-line’ fee…
But they’ve limited the sale to only a few per day.

I wonder if the same will eventually be needed at airports with the paid-for fast track passes.

  • Tony says:

Does Dubai even have fast track? I’m sure there’s nothing at the BA terminal and the EK one has an entire dedicated wing. Never been to T2.

    • BlairWaldorfSalad says:

I was just going to say the same, if DXB Terminal 1 has a security fast track it is news to me. It really is the low point of any trip through that terminal.

      • Tim W says:

You can pay for various arrival, departure or transit fast track packages at DXB T1. I did this recently when arriving from CDG. Booked a basic type arrival package, lady waiting for me at entrance to immigration hall, escorted to the front, through in a couple of minutes. Never done departure but have seen people getting escorted to the front so would expect a similar experience to arrivals.

    • TGLoyalty says:

Was thinking this. If you get the proper arrival or departure service that’s pretty good.

    • Khalid says:

They are fast in all terminals at Dubai Airport.

  • S says:

I’ve been making use of my free passes via HSBC Premier MC at NCL, where the regular security line is now so efficient that the fast track is actually slower if there are more than a couple of people in the queue. Certainly not worth paying for!

  • Ali says:

On the subject of DragonPass – I just signed up and it’s offered me free £15 credit at half a dozen airport restaurants. Is this for everyone?!

    • Gordon says:

Also have this on the DragonPass app! I guess it’s a generic discount offer.

      • Sharon says:

If you look at the T’s and C’s I believe the £15 food and drink voucher is to use instead of the seat in the lounge. You can’t have both on the same day apparently. I think some of the lounges are getting so full they hope that this will offer an alternative and lighten the load.

        • RoyH says:

We recently returned to LGW from Sicily. The lounge at Catania has 35 seats and, not only was it full when we first got there, by the time I went back to collect our second drinks, the queue filled the area at the top of the stairs. I’d read about the lounge beforehand and can see why it gets a ‘rating’ of 1.3 (out of 5, but could easily have been out of 10!). Still, they let me in to get drinks, which we endured (yes!) downstairs in the open seating.

    • The Streets says:

I opted to use mine at Giraffe at T5 recently for a full English and was a welcome difference from the lounge

      • Ali says:

Did you have to buy the voucher or anything? I’m with Barclays premier and I get the app membership, but have to pay £20.5 for a lounge pass. I’m confused why they’re giving these free £15 vouchers!
