IHG One Rewards has announced a new global promotion for the spring.

The good news is that this deal is running back to back with the previous offer, unlike Spring 2024 when we saw a couple of fallow months.

You need to register here.

IHG One Rewards Autumn promotion

IHG One Rewards is the loyalty scheme covering InterContinental, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza and Hotel Indigo among other brands.

You can learn more about IHG One Rewards in our overview article here.

How does IHG’s new bonus points promotion work?

The offer runs from 1st January to 31st March.

You must register in advance via this link. Registration is now open.

What will you earn?

As you can see:

IHG double points spring 2025

…. you will earn double points for every stay during the offer period, but only starting with your second stay.

The bonus is equivalent to the base points you earn. Any elite status bonus is not doubled. This means for example that a Diamond Elite member, with a 100% status bonus, will receive 3x points and not 4x.

Existing bookings DO count so there is no need to rebook anything.  Only one room per stay counts towards the offer, so if you are booking multiple rooms you should put each in a different name.

IMPORTANT: Reward nights do not count. You will not receive double points on incidental spend charged to your room.

IMPORTANT: A reward night does not count as your ‘first stay’ when IHG says that you get double points from your second stay. You need to complete a cash stay before you can start earning double points.

What is the bonus worth?

The standard earning rate in IHG One Rewards is 10 points per US$1 (79p) excluding taxes.  I value an IHG One Rewards point at 0.4p although you can often do better, which means your base return is 4p per 79p spent, ie just over 5.0%.

Of course, most HfP readers will have some sort of IHG One Rewards status.  This comes with a status bonus, although this is NOT doubled:

  • 20% bonus for Silver Elite
  • 40% bonus for Gold Elite
  • 60% bonus for Platinum Elite
  • 100% bonus for Diamond Elite
IHG One Rewards Summer promotion

Under this offer, from your second stay, a base level member would be getting points worth 10% of their pre-tax spend.

A Diamond Elite member, at the top of the scale, would be getting points worth 15% of their pre-tax spend.

Planning a big stay? You may need a mattress run

The ‘from your second stay’ rule is always a stinker with these offers. It means that, if you are planning a very expensive stay at an IHG hotel, it may be worth seeking out a £49 stay at a Holiday Inn Express first.

You need to do the maths on what bonus points worth 5% of your pre-tax spending are worth. Anyone spending £2,000+ on a one-off IHG stay should be considering a very cheap mattress run to get that ‘not doubled’ first stay out of the way.

Conclusion

An extra 5% back in points is well worth registering for, even if you have to forfeit the bonus on your first stay in the new year.

Even if you have no stay booked, you’d be silly not to register – click here to register – so you don’t forget later.

The offer kicks in for stays from 1st January but you can register today.

The offer runs from 1st January to 31st March

    Spring?

    • Andrew J says:

Agreed, I wouldn’t describe this as a ‘spring’ promotion either – albeit the first day of spring next year is 20th of March, so just.

    • TGLoyalty says:

      Actually winter 🙂

      • Rob says:

This is technically true but I don’t think anyone actually treats mid-March as winter. In my mind we cross into spring at the end of January.

        • Perkypat says:

Not in the North East we don’t!

        • Ken says:

I can understand that the Winter Solstice (this weekend) marking the beginning of winter is a little strange – from a daylight & weather point of view.

But spring starting at the end of January is far weirder.

It would also mean Autumn starting at the beginning of August if each season lasts 3 months.

          • Rob says:

It’s best to look at the images we use on HfP each day for the chat thread 🙂

There are four, covering the four seasons, but we only swap them over when the weather is right, not on the seasonal date. The current snow one will probably go at the end of January to be replaced by flower buds.

  • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

    Where are these £49 HIXs?

  • Swiss Jim says:

    Birmingham 5 Jan £43

  • Colin MacKinnon says:

Cebu, Philippines – you can have my room for tonight, gone to Manila!

  • Occasional Ranter says:

Just flagging that you can also register for this promotion within the app, it’s on the front screen and requires 2 clicks.

  • Catman99 says:

I’m currently Platinum from my old Creation card, does anyone know what’s going to happen to my status from next year as IHG have closed their tie up with Creation? Thanks

    • RussellH says:

You will drop down to whatever level you would normally drop if you do not fulfil the conditions to retain the status.

I have been bombarded with e-mails by IHG imploring me to spend at their hotels to retain my silver status, which came from the same source.
And I am also losing my Marriott status, for the same reason.

    • TGLoyalty says:

Think the card actually gave Gold and you would have probably got Platinum from spending as the points are elite qualifying.

Best guess you soft land to Gold

Ambassador does come with Platinum status if you stay at Intercontinental hotels and the 2-4-1 would be useful.

      • Lumma says:

The paid creation card gave platinum, which I’ve kept ever since. Will see in a couple of weeks time if it rolls over again

  • PJJ says:

How does this work for me ???
Registered for off PLUS Diamond Elite PLUS 3X Anniversary Offer
Does that equal 5X points ????
