Cathay Pacific launches a flight sale to Asia and Australasia

Cathay Pacific has launched its ‘Jade’ sale, with discounts on flights beyond Hong Kong to Asia and Australasia.

You can book until 17th April 2025 for travel by 26th March 2026.

However, if you book by 31st March you can make extra savings with the following codes, which are valid in all travel classes:

  • save £100 per ticket with UKSPRING for flights between 22nd April and 22nd June (max 200 tickets)
  • save £100 per ticket with UKAUTUMN for flights between 1st September and 8th December (max 200 tickets)

To use the codes, you must be flying from London Heathrow or Manchester to:

  • Australia and New Zealand: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Auckland, Christchurch
  • East Asia: Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Sapporo, Seoul
  • Southeast Asia: Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Phnom Penh, Manila, Cebu, Denpasar (Bali), Jakarta, Surabaya
  • Taiwan China: Taipei, Kaohsiung
  • Chinese Mainland: Guangzhou, Xiamen, Shanghai, Xi’an, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Chengdu, Wenzhou, Haikou, Chongqing, Beijing, Zhengzhou, Qingdao, Fuzhou

The discount codes cannot be used in the Cathay mobile app, only on the website.

Remember that Cathay Pacific is a British Airways partner in the oneworld alliance. You will earn Avios and British Airways tier points if you credit your flight to a British Airways Club account. From 1st April, you may prefer to earn tier points in Iberia Plus instead because it is more generous for oneworld partner flights.

If you have Gold or Silver status with British Airways, you will receive equivalent benefits with Cathay Pacific.

Some UK credit cards offer special bonuses when used for buying flights. If you spend a lot on airline tickets, using one of these cards could sharply increase the credit card points you earn.

Booking flights on any airline?

American Express Preferred Rewards Gold earns double points (2 Membership Rewards points per £1) when used to buy flights directly from an airline website.

The card comes with a sign-up bonus of 20,000 Membership Rewards points. These would convert to 20,000 Avios or various other airline or hotel programmes. The standard earning rate is 1 point per £1.

Buying flights on British Airways?

The British Airways Premium Plus American Express card earns double Avios (3 Avios per £1) when used at ba.com.

The card comes with a sign-up bonus of 30,000 Avios. The standard earning rate is 1.5 Avios per £1.

You do not earn bonus Avios if you pay for BA flights on the free British Airways American Express card or either of the Barclaycard Avios Mastercards.

Buying flights on Virgin Atlantic?

Both the free Virgin Atlantic Reward Mastercard and the annual fee Virgin Atlantic Reward+ Mastercard earn double Virgin Points when used at fly.virgin.com.

This means 1.5 Virgin Points per £1 on the free card and 3 Virgin Points per £1 on the paid card.

There is a sign-up bonus of 3,000 Virgin Points on the free card and 18,000 Virgin Points on the paid card.

    The Cathay Fare may be a sale fare but for my dates in September the fare is still double per person of an equivalent fare ex the EU.
    People may be perfectly happy to spaff £3500 on a business class ticket from LHR and if so good luck to you but across much of Europe the same trip can be had for half this amount. What we need is an article on why ex U.K. airfares are consistently so much higher than those of our near neighbours!

      Simple. APD and those flying from / connecting through LHR are willing to pay those.

      APD will be £216 for a long haul premium ticket from April…

      Even star alliance options to for example DPS ex LHR are way cheaper than this so called sale never mind ex EU fares

      The APD at c. £200 is only a small part of the equation. it’s really question of demand and ex-UK prices have been far higher for at least forty years. It does mean a lot of choice and often the best aircraft / newest seats allocated to London.

      What you mean is that Cathay is a decent airline and is able to fill its aircraft at higher prices than you are willing to pay 🙂

        Feels like the truth is somewhere in the middle. I’m sure Cathay were more aggressively priced pre-Covid. I used to happily pay them £3-3.6k for LHR-HKG-AKL and back in J and they were about 30% cheaper than SQ at that point and already had their lovely new A350’s operating. Now they’re within 5-10% of SQ.
