Loganair releases its Avios pricing – and it looks pretty good

Earlier this week we told you the basic details of the Loganair Avios deal, which goes live on 31st March.

From that date, Clan Points will be replaced by Avios and the scheme renamed Loganair Loyalty. You can link your account to your British Airways Club account.

We now have the rough details of the earn and burn rates, and it looks pretty good.

Loganair Avios earn and burn pricing

Absolutely nothing has changed from the current scheme. It is NOT moving to revenue based earning or revenue based redemptions.

If you are a Loganair flyer then you should be pretty happy with nothing changing. Why? Because ‘nothing changes’ actually means ‘things get better’.

At present, the only way to earn Clan Points is from flights. Take 16 of the cheapest flights and you get a free one.

Now everything changes. You can earn Avios from multiple sources and use them to book Loganair flights. You no longer need to take 16 flights to get a free one. By earning Avios elsewhere, you can book as many free flights as you want without ever paying for one.

Here is the summary ‘earn and burn’:

Loganair Avios price

You will earn betwen 410 and 1,300 Avios for each one-way Loganair flight you take.

You need 6,500 Avios for a one-way reward flight, plus taxes and charges.

This means that you need to take 16 of the cheapest ‘Fly’ tickets to get a free ticket, or just five ‘Fly Flex+’ flights.

Whilst 6,500 Avios may feel a little steep for a one-way domestic flight, especially as you will be paying full taxes and charges, Loganair flights are not cheap for cash. I suspect that the ‘pence per point’ value here will be good.

We will return to Loganair next week when we can see what availability and taxes and charges look like.

Im looking on with interest in this , i need a Heathrow to Isle of man flight that is current a bit of a ridiculous price , hoping i can get an avios flight and avoid having to travel to gatwick for a cheaper flight

  • Matthias says:

But will therre ever be any Barra seats?

    • Rob says:

They’re not madly expensive for cash. The issue is that you only get a few days (due to the tides) with two daily flights which is what you need to make a day trip of it – assuming you don’t turn immediately around.

    • Numpty says:

Cash tickets booked far in enough in advance are pretty cheap. In terms of the tide times do note that the flight times can change around tide times; when i did the trip i had a few hours on the island and it was just perfect, if i had waited another week the return flight time was an hour later.

Hotels on the island wanted a minimum 2 night stay.

    • Michael C says:

Maybe we could start a campaign to Roll Out the Barra?

  • Volker says:

The “earn and burn” tables imply that you could book a “Fly Flex +” reward flight. I have always booked my Clan Loganair reward flights online and there was no such choice – they were all ticketed as “Fly”. Those come with only 15kg of hold luggage, and seat selection costs extra, too.

  • Garethgerry says:

If you can get flex with full luggage allowance 6500 avios good value, basic no luggage could be poor value

  • Michael C says:

Cheapest BHX-IOM 9 months away is GBP160: looks a good redemption to me. And if the insanely-priced LHR route is the same, even better.

  • Lady London says:

Now if we could just get something like this with Jet2….
