EXCLUSIVE: Cork Airport to lose its only lounge at the end of June

The Aspire lounge at Cork Airport is to close at the end of June.

This is not yet reflected on the Priority Pass website but if you attempt to book entry for cash on the Aspire website you will see that it is not possible.

This will hit those Aer Lingus passengers who qualify to use the lounge. There are no other lounges at the airport.

We understand that the airport requires the space currently occupied by the lounge in order to increase its security screening area. This has been brought on by the requirement to install next-generation scanners which allow liquids and electronics to remain in bags.

Whilst the airport is currently in the middle of an expansion, we understand that Aspire has not been offered a new space due to the lack of potential locations once you go airside.

Nothing will change until the end of June, however, so you can continue to enjoy it for now. Reader feedback on the lounge has always been positive, given the small size of the airport itself.

PS. Remember that in November 2023, Aer Lingus removed lounge access for all British Airways Club elite members flying from Shannon or Cork. British Airways Club elite members were previously allowed to use these lounges when flying on Aer Lingus, but ONLY if flying to London.

HSBC Premier World Elite Mastercard gets you get a free Priority Pass card, allowing you access to the Priority Pass network.  Guests are charged at £24 although it may be cheaper to pay £60 for a supplementary credit card for your partner.
