British Airways has announced that flights to Tel Aviv will remain suspended until 31st July.

This is a further six week pause, with the existing suspension due to end on 14th June.

From 1st August to 25th October, the morning flight has been cancelled. Only the evening flight is bookable.

British Airways extends Tel Aviv cancellations

Virgin Atlantic has permanently cancelled its Tel Aviv route so this is not available as a rebooking option.

British Airways has, however, agreed a comprehensive deal with EL AL.

If you have a BA ticket to Tel Aviv for travel up to 31st July, or you are on a cancelled morning flight between August and October, you can ask to switch to an EL AL service from Heathrow. This includes redemption tickets.

If this is not convenient or there is no availability on your chosen date, there is an alternative. You can be rebooked on British Airways to various cities in Europe and then switch to a connecting EL AL flight.

Options include Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Larnaca, Madrid, Milan and Paris.

You can, of course, also request a full refund if your British Airways flight has been cancelled.

Further details can be found on the BA trade website here.

Are you sure about the morning flights being cancelled? I have one returning from Tel Aviv towards the end of August at 6am and it’s definitely not been cancelled, showing up as the only flight that day when I check now. They’ve allowed me to rebook the outgoing flight in July but not the return as it’s not been cancelled.

Well actually B A is one of the only airlines that allow rebooking on to EL AL so thanks to them for being so generous.

    Does this include points flights?

    • Rob says:

      Same rules, yes.

I was able to rebook on LY Business Class from BA Club on Amex 2-4-1 Avios booking. Not my preferred date on the outgoing but better than nothing. LY Business is a better product than BA Club Europe as well.

  • Robert says:

I did this this morning no hassle. Thank you

BA told me today that their policy to rebook onto ELAL is only for cancelled flights till end of July, my cancelled October flight from TLV to LHR at 16:30 is only possible to move to the red eye 6am BA flight. How can I get them to rebook me onto the ELAL afternoon flight ?

    • Rob says:

BA’s policy is in the link in the article and it clearly says that EL AL rebooking is available on cancelled flights through to 25th October.

  • Shlomo says:

Anyway they would be required to reimburse if you would purchase an Elal ticket directly. It would just mean a bit more hassle.

    • vosizneiz says:

Not necessarily as they are offering you an alternative flight on their own flight

      • Shlomo says:

Yes, if they want to switch u from afternoon to early morning and the elal is similiar afternoon time
