Loganair Loyalty is running a flash sale to celebrate its adoption of Avios.

For bookings made until 10th June, you will get 50% off all redemption flights.

This means, for example, the £500 ticket from Heathrow to Orkney that Conny flew recently can be yours for just 6,500 Avios + £70 of taxes.

You can travel from 23rd June until the end of the schedule. There are blackout dates over Christmas and New Year.

You cannot book Avios tickets on Loganair at ba.com. You need to transfer your points into a Loganair Loyalty account.

How to redeem Avios on Loganair

You can open a Loganair Loyalty account here.

IMPORTANT: You must use the same email addess, as well as the same first name and surname, as your British Airways Club account. If you don’t, you won’t be able to link your two accounts.

Go to this page of the new avios.com website.

You will see links to all Avios transfer partners including Finnair, Qatar Airways, Nectar and BPme.

2FA is required twice – once with BA and once with Loganair. All of my Loganair emails went into spam so if you don’t receive one, try there. Once your accounts have been linked, it shouldn’t need to be done again.

You can transfer Avios by going back to the same page of avios.com and clicking the Loganair button.

In my experience, you need to attempt a transfer TWICE. The first time will trigger a 2FA security check. Once passed, you will be put back to the transfer page. Attempt the transfer again and it will go through with no additional security.

Remember that:

• transfers are instant
• transfers are free
• transfers can be done multiple times in either direction

IMPORTANT: As with transfers to Finnair and Qatar Airways, you can only move Avios in your OWN account to Loganair. There is no facility to move Avios from other people in your household account.

If you don’t have enough Avios in your own account for the booking you need, you can use the Finnair website to move Avios between members of your household account for €10.

How to book Avios flights with Loganair

Once you’ve transferred Avios to your new Loganair Loyalty account, you can get booking.

The standard Loganair booking page has a ‘Spend Avios’ tick box.

There are a few things to know about Avios redemptions on Loganair:

• all tickets come with a 15kg checked baggage allowance, a 6kg hand luggage allowance (plus a handbag) and a free snack and drink
• you need to pay for seat selection – there is no waiver for British Airways elites
• Avios seats cannot be cancelled or refunded
• date and route changes are possible for a fee subject to Avios seat availability
• taxes and charges apply
• you cannot redeem Avios for flights between the islands of Orkney because these flights are funded by a Government grant
• you cannot book Loganair redemptions on ba.com – you must transfer your Avios to a Loganair Loyalty account

How many Avios do you need for Loganair flights?

It’s an idiot-proof system!

Every one-way flight is 6,500 Avios.

During this sale, tickets are just 3,250 Avios one-way.

Flights from Heathrow to Kirkwall and Sumburgh have a stop in Dundee. These are treated as a single flight so you still only pay 6,500 Avios each way (3,250 Avios in this sale).

Remember that Loganair’s aircraft have no more than 72 seats – many have fewer – so Avios availability will be restricted. There is no guaranteed availability as you get with British Airways, Iberia, Finnair and Qatar Airways.

Taxes and charges are roughly £70 return, often less.

Conclusion

This is a genuinely good deal to book a flight for virtually any future date for just 3,250 Avios each way.
