Get £250 Virgin Atlantic Holidays cashback with American Express

Virgin Atlantic Holidays has launched a new cashback deal with American Express.

You need to look under the ‘Offers’ tab in the app or on the Amex website for each card you have, although you are unlikely to find this on British Airways or Marriott Bonvoy cards.

You will receive £250 back when you spend £5,000 by 19th August.

Virgin Atlantic Holidays £250 American Express cashback

The small print has a couple of gotchas if you’re not careful:

  • cumulative spend counts
  • only website bookings count, not transactions completed in Virgin Atlantic Holidays stores
  • bookings made on the Virgin Atlantic Holidays mobile app do NOT count – it must be on the website
  • ‘flight only’ bookings do not count
  • part payments or deposits do not count (although how Amex would know this I have no idea)
  • purchases made on finance or ‘buy now pay later’ do not count
  • gift card and voucher purchases do not count

The bottom line is that you need to visit the website (and ONLY the website) and spend £5,000 in one or more transactions in full payment for a holiday (not just a flight) to get the £250.

Remember that you can earn bonus tier points in Virgin Flying Club when booking with Virgin Atlantic Holidays, as well as earning additional Virgin Points.

Fond memories of the Doubletree Sheffield. It used to be great value @10k points a night max, especially if gold or above. Used to take the then little kids away for the odd night – swimming, free breakfast and sometimes they had a free drinks and nibbles reception in the lobby

    • Mrtibbs1999 says:

I used to here lots. Great value and the self playing piano in the breakfast room was nice. We had a lot of lovely free stays. As a gold the free breakfast was very welcome.

Recall this one used to be very generous with Diamond perks so it’s a shame to hear it’s leaving. Yet another Doubletree.

  • AlanC says:

£250 back on a £5k spend yet United can give you £300 back on £700 spend (previously £350) on a flight only!

    • The real Swiss Tony says:

Apples and pears. The £300 from UA could simply reflect the YQ, whereas the 5% from Virgin Holidays is probably what they would pay to an agent if sold that way.

      • Nico says:

Does not feel very generous, whatever the reason!

        • Rob says:

Remember that it will stack with any other offer. The smart money might wait until the next sale / discount day comes along and double up on discounts.

The site of the new Radisson RED is 28 – 38 Leman Street – which puts it very much in Whitechapel – it may be near (the boundary is one block over in the west), but it’s not in The City.

  • LittleNick says:

Stayed at the Radisson Red Gatwick about a month ago as it was pretty cheap and with free breakfast thrown in thanks to a status match to Radisson VIP I couldn’t complain. Yes the public areas are quite nice and so are the rooms on first impression, it’s the details that let it down. In the bathroom, there was no where to put your things but in the sink itself. But for the price paid it was adequate.

  • J says:

Radisson Red in Glasgow is great, nice rooftop bar too (although gotta be lucky with the weather which we were!) I like this brand.

    • ExExpat says:

I came here to say this! Had a great stay at Radisson RED Glasgow in November 2024 and we were upgraded to a junior suite with VIP status. The reception staff were very personable and helpful and the breakfast staff very polite. It wasn’t the weather to sample the rooftop bar unfortunately! The Mini

  • Ray says:

The Radisson Individual Twickenham Stadium is slowly converting to a Radisson Red. All downstairs public areas were closed a couple of weeks ago but the room upgrades seem largely complete bar the Pitch View Suites on the 6th floor (which I had a surprise upgrade to).
