For your coffee table: ‘British Airways: 100 Years of Aviation Posters’ by Paul Jarvis

Head for Points is moving offices in two weeks, as WeWork closes at our current home of 1 Poultry. We won’t be heading far – just down the road to Eastcheap.

I mention this because we were discussing how to transit the two rare aviation posters that hang in our current office. The image below is one of them, picked up at AntikBar on Kings Road which always has a good selection.

'British Airways: 100 Years of Aviation Posters'

If like us you are a fan of aviation posters, British Airways published a book a few years ago which is still available.

British Airways: 100 Years of Aviation Posters is a collection of 200 posters from the British Airways’ archives. It features posters from the early years until today (well, to the 2010s), giving an insight into how marketing and design has changed over the decades.

The book is available for £18.84 on Amazon (RRP £20).

Many thanks for the reference. I don’t know how many more books my ‘coffee table’ (I don’t have one) can take but I have bought a copy.

  • Nick says:

I can think of several up to date ‘speech balloons’ to add to some of those wonderful images of the past.

    Slow news day?

      4th article, wasn’t emailed.

The 10 copies Amazon had last night are now down to 3 so some people find it is as interesting as us!

I am about to publish a book called 10 Years of Error Messages on BA.com

10 minute walk down the street … usually quiet at weekends!

  • Nick says:

Paul put together a bunch of books like this, all were great but my favourite is ‘Mapping the Airways’ which is also still available. It was one of the saddest days in BA’s history when he died – reflected of course in G-ZBJJ which remains the only named aircraft in the fleet. His departure and the company being what it is now mean the chances of similar new books being published in the future are minuscule.
