News in brief:

Hilton offering England v Wales tickets

As we have covered a few times in recent months, Hilton Honors has signed a comprehensive sponsorship deal with both Wembley Stadium and the Football Association.

This is ensuring that a steady stream of tickets for Wembley events (not just football) and England football games (not just Wembley ones) are appearing.

Tickets for the England v Wales friendly on 9th October are now available.

There are five pairs of luxury hospitality tickets being auctioned. These are for The One Twenty Club, the highest level of hospitality available. The minimum bid is 100,000 points per pair and I suspect they won’t go for much more.

An additional pair of VIP tickets is being auctioned along with a night at Hilton Wembley which is next to the stadium. The minimum bid is 150,000 Hilton Honors points and there are no bids as yet.

You can find out more on the Hilton Honors Experiences site here.

Calcot Manor now bookable via Hilton, for cash or points

Calcot Manor, now known at Calcot & Spa, is a boutique hotel in the Cotswolds, around three miles from Tetbury.

It is well known as an upmarket weekend break destination, similar to Cowley Manor Experimental which we reviewed last year.

Calcot & Spa has just been added to the list of Small Luxury Hotels properties which are bookable via the Hilton website.

This means that you can book rooms for cash via hilton.com – and earn Hilton Honors points and elite night credit – or redeem Hilton Honors points.

Elite members of Hilton Honors (Gold and above) will receive free breakfast and space-available upgrades when booking via hilton.com. Other elite benefits such as (non-guaranteed) late check-out do not apply on SLH bookings.

Redemptions are 110,000 points per night. As well as tiny ‘Cosy’ rooms, the larger ‘Comfort’ rooms are included. These cost £465 over most weekends, from what I can tell, so you are getting 0.42p per Hilton point. This is better than our target Hilton valuation of 0.33p per point.

You can find out more on this page of the Hilton website.

InterContinental Singapore closing?

The InterContinental hotel in Singapore (the old one on Middle Road, not the new InterContinental Singapore Robertson Quay) appears to be leaving IHG.

A comment on Flyertalk said that the hotel had been sold and that the new owners would be switching brands. I can’t find anything online to confirm this – so nothing seems certain – but a search on ihg.com shows that no rooms are currently available after 1st January 2026.

Devastating news re IC Singapore. Such a lovely hotel and one of the best lounges. I feel robbed having missed 2 booked trips there during the lockdown mania

    • Flyoff says:

The afternoon tea in the Executive Lounge was superb. Shame it is leaving IHG

    • BBbetter says:

Agreed. Good location, nice mix of old and new elements, excellent staff.

    • ClaireF says:

Totally agree. We are in singapore tomorrow trying the robertson Quay intercontinental but had a fabulous stay at the bugis one 2 years ago. My first experience of a butler and the club level was fantastic.

      • Paul says:

Hopefully you don’t have a standard room, they are tiny.

I do that the Robertson Quay hotel though, lovely lounge, Italian restaurant attached and nice walks down the river to more bars and restaurants.

And that’s no word of a lie. Even the junior suites are snug. The first photo of the standard room on the IHG website illustrates this perfectly. As noted the lounge is well executed if you have access. Thoroughly enjoyed afternoon tea and sundowners on the terrace.

That is a blow, we will be there in November on a rewards booking, lets hope they don’t accelerate the change?

    • Angus says:

The IC Bugis apart from displaying some wonderful Peranakan architecture and culture was the last hotel I was able to order gin pahit that tasted like gin pahit.

    • Alan says:

Totally agree, only had a couple of stays there (tended to go with the nearby Conrad Centennial) but really liked it.

Will be checking in here in a couple hours’ time. Can report back in there’s anything interesting to note.

  • Bernie100 says:

Big Shame. Was there at the end of last week.
Status fully recognised. Great Club Lounge

IC Singapore alleged reflagging has reminded me to ask: Are there any good online resources for finding hotel promotions in Singapore and other locations popular with HfPers?

In the case of SG, most seem to be cobrand bank offers only available to local residents. And the emailed offers usually only cover UK and perhaps continental Europe.

    • tony says:

I’d say direct on the respective hotel websites or social media channels. It’s a pain. Also check out places like Luxury Escapes although that can feel a bit random at times, going from loads of options to nothing very quickly.

  • Paul says:

I love that hotel, one of the best IC’s there is.
Last time I got a suite about 10x times bigger than a London apartment.

I have 5 nights in December booked. Can’t wait.

  • SharonC says:

Not sure of the source of this news….nothing on Google anywhere.
Someone on Flyertalk posted this in response as the OP hadn’t even quoted their source:
“If it’s being based on no room availability for 2026, that was canvassed on the master thread and the hotel had advised it was a system issue rather than a closure.”
Let’s hope it is the latter, as I have a booking 1-4 Jan using my Ambassador Weekend certificate!

    • Michael C says:

Yes, someone else on FT says they had an April 26 booking confirmed over the phone, and that bookings can only be made manually because of a glitch.
Of course, the “glitch” could be the transfer to the new hotel system, which is honouring bookings!

Regent Singapore left IHG to become a Conrad ;o)))

  • SGJNI61 says:

We had an excellent stay at the IC in June. Love the hotel and as others have mentioned, the club lounge was one of the best. Fantastic staff and location. Will have to now stay at Robertson Quay, which is ok but not in the same league.
More trips to The Regent in Phu Quoc will help ease the pain of the loss I’m sure. A week at Christmas booked. Best club lounge we have ever been to!

  • LD27 says:

Oh dear. What a shame. I really like this IC. It might explain why I couldn’t book a room for next Spring.

  • George K says:

IC Singapore was my first ever redemption of the pre-Creation IHG Barclaycard free night vouchers. Almost felt like a mini-Raffles, which at the time, was closed due to extensive refurbishment.

    Good times
