Save 15% on IHG One Rewards hotel redemptions – but for elite members only

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

IHG One Rewards has launched a 15% discount on reward nights, as long as you have Platinum Elite or Diamond Elite status.

All hotels are taking part, but you need to stay in the next two months.

I am writing this before the offer launches but it should be live when you read this on Friday. If you are reading it very early on Friday you may need to wait until parts of the US swap over!

Save 15% on IHG One Rewards redemptions - for elite members

The terms are:

  • book by 16th September
  • stay by 18th November
  • valid on ‘all points’ redemptions and the ‘points’ element of ‘points and cash’ redemptions
  • all hotels, all brands, all countries are included

You will know the sale is live because the old price, crossed out, and the reduced price should show during the booking process.

You can also check that the discount is genuine by searching as a logged-in Platinum Elite or Diamond Elite member and searching again without registering.

If you had been planning an IHG reward stay for the next few weeks, it is worth checking the pricing today to see if you should rebook.

The IHG site is here.

There is also currently a 100% flash sale bonus if you buy IHG One Rewards points click here to see more and to buy. The sale ends on Saturday 13th September.

Showing up as live as of time of posting this

Points element of a points + cash booking have been reduced as well.

  • JDB says:

Presumably this is intended as a sop to the higher elites vs all the unearned gold members and devaluation.

    • Rob says:

It was mentioned as a regularly ocurring benefit when One Rewards was launched, and indeed happened at the same time last year, Last year you only had four weeks to stay though.

      • BA Flyer IHG Stayer says:

IIRC happens about twice a year and was indeed promised when thee scheme changed in 2022!

    Ihg like to confuse
As a Plat Elite the app states it’s for new and newly renovated hotels.

That promo was running before this started…

Saved 15k points on a redemption i made a couple of days ago.
Shame my stays at the start of Dec fall outside the times it’s running 🙁

I spent most of yesterday planning a 2 night stay in Paris for later this month, and concluded that a £356 cancellable cash booking at Voco Montparnasse was better than a 134k points reservation – with various dates available later this month.

Following this article I logged on first thing again this morning to find the last room available at 74,800 points for 2 nights, which I obviously snapped up. No rooms available for points now until 3 Oct and then 13 Oct.

This dynamic pricing drives me mad some times, but thanks again to my personal travel advisor, HfP.

Thanks, small saving of 7500 points over several bookings but every little helps.

Six Senses are excluded it seems.

Am I being really dumb? What am I doing wrong?! Checking the price for 2 nights in the Newcastle CP next weekend and it’s giving the same price whether logged in (Diamond) or not – 36k per night? Which is the same price it was last week, no crossed out price. Tried on the app and full website.

    • SammyJ says:

Same for any dates/hotels I check, no crossed out figures, and definitely the regular prices displayed. I’m signed in, but it still says ‘sign in’ at the top of the page rather than showing my name, it’s been doing this a lot lately. I suspect that’s the issue.

  • Guernsey Globetrotter says:

Nice – saved 18k on our night at the IC Paris Le Grand at the start of our Oz trip next month – thanks HfP 🙏
