Save 15% on IHG One Rewards hotel redemptions – but for elite members only

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

IHG One Rewards has launched a 15% discount on reward nights, as long as you have Platinum Elite or Diamond Elite status.

All hotels are taking part, but you need to stay in the next two months.

I am writing this before the offer launches but it should be live when you read this on Friday. If you are reading it very early on Friday you may need to wait until parts of the US swap over!

Save 15% on IHG One Rewards redemptions - for elite members

The terms are:

  • book by 16th September
  • stay by 18th November
  • valid on ‘all points’ redemptions and the ‘points’ element of ‘points and cash’ redemptions
  • all hotels, all brands, all countries are included

You will know the sale is live because the old price, crossed out, and the reduced price should show during the booking process.

You can also check that the discount is genuine by searching as a logged-in Platinum Elite or Diamond Elite member and searching again without registering.

If you had been planning an IHG reward stay for the next few weeks, it is worth checking the pricing today to see if you should rebook.

The IHG site is here.

There is also currently a 100% flash sale bonus if you buy IHG One Rewards points click here to see more and to buy. The sale ends on Saturday 13th September.

  • Grant C00per says:

I see crossed out figures when I search bookings but it still works out at about 0.4p per point which is what I normally see
Are there any genuine savings anywhere

    • Rob says:

Those are genuine reductions vs the previous price, as you can see from other comments here.

      • Grant C00per says:

I just checked cp newcastle, showing as 30600 per night with 36000 crossed out
Cash price of £143 a night, so definitely a saving there, doesn’t seem to be the same everywhere if you have a base value of 0.4p a point

        • Bill Barton says:

It looks like a global 15% reduction, so if the points price was already high it may just end up equalising. On the other hand the points price was already below the cash price for my Mexico booking, and with this sale I save another 15k points.

  • Derek says:

Thanks very much for heads up on IHG points discount. Have changed our USA bookings n saved loads.

  • Andrew J says:

I’m not seeing anything reduced – maybe my account has a bug and I’ve been excluded for some reason.

  • Dmitry says:

As a Platinum Elite member I don’t see any reduction or any crossed out figures. All is showing as normal.

    • ColinThames says:

Also Platinum but, as the article mentions, the 15% off only appears at 3 nights or more. Sadly, I only want 2 nights.

      • ColinThames says:

But then when I looked at Manchester I was being offered 15% for one night. So it’s not consistent

  • Peeps says:

I’ve just amended a 4 night November stay at Intercontinental Miami and saved 24K points.

  • Michael says:

“Save 15% on new and newly renovated hotels” is very clearly stated on the offer page and banners on the site. I do not see reduced redemption rates with old prices crossed out. I’m Platinum.

As an aside, has anyone ever managed to get anything close to 0.4p per point for a London hotel (excluding Heathrow)? Central London redemption prices always seem outrageously high.

Booked the IC at 02 for end of October for when I see Anna Voyage. It was originally around 70,000 I believe then it went down to 61. I’ve booked it for 51,750 today.

Think that represents half decent value

    • Rob says:

Easier to book one of the two Hyatt’s in the Westfield shopping centre and walk it to ABBA Voyage in 15 minutes!

      • BSI1978 says:

Walk or one stop on the DLR (if operating) subject to the weather.

      • yorkshireRich says:

        Yeah, I get that Rob.
My justification however is that Im staying at Park Plaza Westminster the day after, so easy to get the jubilee line from North Greenwich to Waterloo, with a stop off at Borough market for my full English breakfast in between.
