Flights cancelled on Avios booking with Alaska – what are the rebooking rights?

Hi,
I had a booking in July for return flights from SEA to YYC with Alaska Air using Avios through BA. These flights were to link up with LHR-SEA flights using a 241.Alaska has cancelled my original flights and moved me to the nearest (later) flight. On the return journey it is quite close to the SEA-LHR so I would like to move it to the day before to make sure I don’t miss the flight to LHR.
What are the rules/re-booking rights for cancelled Avios flights? Are they different from “cash” flights?
Does there need to be Avios availability on the flight the day before? Many thanks,

ChrisYou unfortunately have no statutory rebooking rights, so best to speak with BA as you booked with them and see what they will do. Alaska would ordinarily help, but as booked through BA, they may not.
You’re stuck with US rules – no recourse EU261 but there’s nothing to stop you requesting a move to your preferred flight (or cancel and rebook if there are seats available, I managed to cancel some AA domestic flights on BA.com a few days ago without having to call). Have you tried changing it in MMB before anything else?
You can ask BA to request the flight you want via the Oneworld liaison desk
I had similar issues with Alaska changing flights last summer. BA just mobed them FOC and there were not even any connection issues in my case, just told them I didn’t want to arrive LAX in rush hour. In the end I cancelled and rebooked via Vegas for cask to get status on Alaska MP as their flights are generally inexpensive.
