Any tips for Montreal? I have my accommodation booked, but thinking more things to do/see and places to eat. I’m Scottish, so priority is good value for money, rather than luxury or super low cost.
When are you going? We enjoyed the Ice Hockey – very passionate crowd – the season starts in October. The city walking tour was interesting, Montreal has a historic French core and multiple skyscrapers in close proximity. There’s also an “underground city” due to the very high/low temperatures.
We also walked up Mont Royal which offered great views of the city and visited the biodome in the old Olympic Velodrome (as it’s out of the city, probably only worth it if you have kids, but was interesting)
The one meal I remember as being excellent was at Monarque which is an Amex Platinum dining credit choice – when we went in 2022 there were only four but now seems like there are lots more.If you have time I would definitely recommend a train trip, business class, to Quebec City, which was stunning(and in my view a more interesting city than Montreal, so stay a couple of nights if you can). I wrote a (rather long) blog about it here, but it was only £60 each way and streets ahead of First Class in the UK, more like a business class flight.

If you like a bit of adventure, the Saute-Moutons jet boat trip is amazing. You will get very wet, but you get a locker to keep dry clothes.
Would also second Québec City – so much more to see and do there. It’s the only fortified city in North America and the characterful old town suits high above the St Lawrence with sweeping views.
I third Quebec City. An amazing station with two fine dining restaurants (before Covid).
If you are having a hire car, go to Parc Omega, a wildlife park with bison, elk, other deer, bers etc. Nearby is Fairmont Chateau Montebello, my favourite hotel, worth a quick visit just to see it.
