Forums Other Destination advice Riyadh – things to do?

Going to Riyadh next weekend for three nights on a bit of a whim (and a £60 journey from Rome to Riyadh to Stansted).

We’re staying at the AWFAD Hotel in Olaya (apparently the right area to stay, although it’s a very big area!), and from what I can tell it’s 1km or so to get to Tahlia Street which seems to be an area with nightlife – does anyone know of anywhere that we should go?

We’re going to do a city tour and the Edge of the World, but if anyone has any other tips I’d be very grateful….

    Thanks!

Just curious, what sort of nightlife are you anticipating in the Saudi capital?

Diriyah is worth seeing and only a short Uber ride from Riyadh

Aston100 – apparently during Ramadan it’s a bit crazy at night! We’ve been told to sleep during the day and plan to stay out all night, which is not what I was expecting. It seems that there are ‘bars’ – just not selling alcohol.

Gottskalksson – thanks – happily that’s in the City Tour.

Sugary mocktails for a highly diabetic population.
    What could go wrong?

Back- had a great time. Hired a car in the end as we couldn’t find a city tour running and everything seemed so far apart – and with no public transport it made the most sense.

Didn’t get to bed before 4am any night – it was strange being on such late nights out but only drinking tea/milkshakes. There was always something open on Tahlia Street so I’d recommend that to anyone.
