Hi all, my fathers 70th at end of March and as a family we said we would go somewhere, so myself and my brother are trying to organise something. There will be 7 of us in total which includes one infant just under 2 years.
We are not all based in the same area of the Uk. I have looked at Easy Jet from Manchester but the flight times aren’t great.
BA from Heathrow is certainly more convenient with flight times. We are looking at BA Holidays at present. My brother showed me one hotel but after doing some research via Google, it stated Alexanderplatz is the most dangerous part of Berlin.
Choosing a safe area is a MUST as I’m travelling with my mother and father who don’t really go on city breaks. As it looks like we are going to book through BA holidays, hotel status doesn’t really matter, so open to any suggestions, any recommendations most grateful
Many thanks
Rich
I go to Berlin typically twice a year. There’s the odd bag snatching at various tourist traps, but I’ve always understood Berlin to be quite low crime. Alexanderplatz to my mind has more danger of wandering under a tram than any other danger. I walk lots when there, and quite happily wander into some of the grungier funky areas. Never once felt unsafe, for context I’m 60+. I’d revisit my research. My personal fav area is around Hackescher Markt. The history and more interesting stuff is all around Mitte in the former east. I don’t care much about hotels there as Berlin is an out and about see stuff city. A HI or Hampton will serve you well there.
