It’s not really that far from the airport to most places in Miami to be honest. I recently joined my wife on a work trip and stayed in Coral Gables. We stayed in the Hyatt Regency which was nice enough, there’s a few other places to choose from too, depending on budget. Quite a few restaurants and places to go for drinks etc along the Miracle mile area. Otherwise you can head close to the seafront (maybe Brickell? area). I’m not sure i would bother going to SouthBeach for 1 night at that kind of time as traffic can be quite bad getting over there and back at rush hour.
