Apols @ChrisC – I meant an extra night in the US (which would mean we land in the UK on a Saturday which is easier for collection by car from LHR)
You’ve made me realise though that if we did change our arrival at Heathrow from Friday to Saturday, we could request to overnight @ Heathrow on Saturday night so they wouldn’t need to recalc any taxes and fees
We could then collect bags on Saturday, jump in the car and skip the last leg to Manchester (but we’d be unable to claim anything… which sounds like it would be difficult anyways so extra night in US, no ticket fee recalc and more convenient collection from LHR by car 🤔)… all assuming a recalc would occur at an increased cost if final destination is changed
Edit: Given the current baggage efficiency at LHR tho, I’m thinking even this plan could create problems
