@squawk7700 I should have added that usually the SLI/ALI is usually a bigger issue than CDW. Many people book car hire using US/Australia/Bermuda sites which makes the rate cheaper as it excludes this and most US residents have it included in their regular car insurance so don’t need it. However, that cover often isn’t accepted by other countries and it matters because there are statutory minima and in the unfortunate event of an accident you really need an insurer to pick up the tab there and then and fight your corner rather than pay a big sum and hope to recover it from Amex later.
Thanks JDB. Any tips on how to mitigate this in advance? Really don’t want to be paying more for the car than I’ve already paid! I booked via the UK site so I think it probably included CDW but no additional insurance.
