Don’t just dump Gold because of the fee.
£160 gets you access to double rewards on airline bookings, £60 of Deliveroo credit and 4 lounge visits. Those things have variable value to different people. But also don’t forget that every £5K spend to £25K (£30K? I’ve forgotten) gets you 2.5K additional Member Rewards. It’s not hard to make the argument that the Gold card is decent value, and a very good card to spend on.
It’s actually £120 of Deliveroo credit. Plus there are cashback deals not on regular Amex cards (eg. 10% off selected restaurants).
