All entirely unnecessary you’ll be pleased to hear, household accounts are just for pooling earned avios.
As long as the companion voucher owner is flying, the other person can be anyone, just add them to your friends and family list. I took my brother last time I went away.
As the Companion Voucher holder, you can choose whoever you want to take as a Companion on your Companion Voucher booking. If you are part of a British Airways Executive Club Household Account, your companion will need to be part of your Household account or on your Friends and Family list. You can find more information on Household Accounts. However, should you wish to travel alone, you can instead use your Companion Voucher (if earned from 1 September 2021) to receive a 50% discount on the Avios fare of your solo booking.
