Only one parent having a BAPP doesn’t really work for a family of 3, as you can’t use 2x vouchers for a 3, but can for 4. That’s where the Barclaycard voucher comes in handy.
Practically doesn’t work that way. You can use 2x BAPP vouchers for a family of 3. You save 50% on the third traveller’s avios cost.
Barclaycard voucher, on the other hand, is practically useless. You don’t get the extra availability that BAPP voucher gets from I class. That rules out almost all popular routes like Dubai, Maldives, Singapore etc. It’s probably useful for boomers who can travel during off peak and avoid school holidays.
For example next year, plenty of availability to Singapore on BAPP vouchers. Zero on Barclaycard vouchers.
As Froggee says, the qn really is if you can accumulate enough avios to make use of vouchers.
