@Ash – if your flight were cancelled, the insurances won’t offer you much help and will expect you to claim from BA first. The key will be getting on to BA quickly to get yourself rerouted as so many people from many flights might be looking for the same seats on flights that are operating. You only get one chance to reroute, so you want to look at all the options including deciding whether you are able and/or willing to fly via the US. Put some options to BA rather than waiting for them to help.
