Companion vouchers can only be used on VS metal, meaning the furthest east you can go with one will be DXB or MLE. I would imagine that, if you’re thinking DXB, then EK will be competitive, and nearby, you’ll get competition from EY and QR. Given EK, EY and QRs ability to bounce you from the Middle East onward, the case for VS is looking a little less appealing.
Some other ideas:
– AFKL via CDG/AMS. This is handy if LHR isn’t your local airport, as they’ve a good regional network in the UK.
– VS/DL to LAX, then DL/KE/CI/MU/VN/GA onwards. You might be able to use a voucher on the VS portion, then your points on the regionals.
– BA/QR to DOH, then QR onward. You can’t use your vouchers or your 200k points balance, but can transfer your 100k from MR.
