Busy collecting these and have 4 of them. Was planning to take an extended trip around Asia next spring as a family 2 ad, 2ch 6&11. Was planning to go virgin PVG and shorthall to Vietnam, Thailand , Cambodia which ever worked out best and then travel by land around the 3 countries, then possibly on to Japan and or Korea, Indonesia or Philippines. It’s fluid at the moment as we planned only to get as many vouchers and points ready to start the next stage
unfortunately PVG will be a no go as virgin are cutting the route. I don’t believe the 241 can be used on partner airlines?
We have around 200k points and 100k on Amex we could move and gold plus points with Accor we were planning to use to book some hotels(open to using and moving the points from Amex to another chain)
Planning 2-3 months of travel but may have to rethink if we can’t use the 241 to get out there and save on airfares. What does the panel suggest? yep on a budget would have booked economy deluxe and we’re not the type to book the kids in economy and sit in 1st anyway.Companion vouchers can only be used on VS metal, meaning the furthest east you can go with one will be DXB or MLE. I would imagine that, if you’re thinking DXB, then EK will be competitive, and nearby, you’ll get competition from EY and QR. Given EK, EY and QRs ability to bounce you from the Middle East onward, the case for VS is looking a little less appealing.
Some other ideas:
– AFKL via CDG/AMS. This is handy if LHR isn’t your local airport, as they’ve a good regional network in the UK.
– VS/DL to LAX, then DL/KE/CI/MU/VN/GA onwards. You might be able to use a voucher on the VS portion, then your points on the regionals.
– BA/QR to DOH, then QR onward. You can’t use your vouchers or your 200k points balance, but can transfer your 100k from MR.
