Name: Park Plaza Westminster Bridge
City: London
Upgraded? Yes to a “Suite Studio”
Lounge Access: Yes
Comments: Picked this after Park Plaza London Riverside told me that lounge access wasn’t free for VIP members, but Westminster Bridge said it was. Nice hotel, but really big and very full when we stayed, so very busy. Initially upgraded to “Studio King” but then to “Suite Studio” when I asked at reception (as it was a special occasion for us). I doubt there was much difference in these rooms, but the suite was on one of the top three floors which are “suite floors” with their own lift. View was not good unfortunately, euphemistically called a “city” view, our room was directly opposite a student accommodation tower, but I guess if I wanted a view I should have paid for one.

The main benefit was the lounge which was great, always quiet, and amazing view of Big Ben. There was a big queue for the main breakfast room on both days we stayed, so great to be able to use the lounge, which was calm. We also used it once for evening prosecco and canapes and saw a lovely sunset behind the houses if parliament, again very quiet only 5 to 10 other people in there, despite the rest of the hotel being absolutely rammed.

Enjoyed using the pool and sauna (steam room out of service).

A few minor quibbles (no water bottles provided in the rooms, body wash empty in both shower and bath, one broken lift meaning access to the exec lounge involved changing lifts in the lobby)… But all pretty first world problems though really.

Overall an enjoyable stay, made special by the lounge access, and great location.
