I just completed a weekend stay at Radisson Blu Milano as part of my ITA status run to retain Sky Team Elite+.
The booking rate was around €100 but it would have been around €90 if I had done prepaid – these are very competitive rates for a hotel like this in Milan, especially with AC Milan playing at the nearby San Siro on the Saturday I stayed (there were a lot of football fans around the hotel). Even the Moxy at LIN cost the same and it’s much more basic.I got a suite upgrade on arrival (booked Standard room at cheapest rate). When I entered the room it looked like a fairly ordinary Junior Suite but the bathroom was spectacular in comparison. It had a really large bath and a cavernous shower space that was more like what you’d see in the Pool/Sauna area.
Breakfast service was fine although the range of foods on offer was not exceptional. However, the staff were very helpful and the made to order omelette was much better than I generally get in hotels of this standard. There’s a coffee machine serving the usual gunk but you can ask the stuff and they will make one for you – I got a latte macchiato with extra shot of espresso that was perfect.
They forgot the welcome gift but I forgot to mention it, but all in all I was v. happy with the stay and would definitely go back as it’s excellent value with VIP status.
BTW, there’s a nearby restaurant (just a few minutes walk) called L’Immagine Bistro which is absolutely incredible, even by Italian standards. I honestly think I would go back to the Radisson just to hit this restaurant again. Superb food and great staff. It’s a great find considering the location, and you can run into many mediocre restaurants in the more central parts of Milan if you’re not careful in checking reviews.

Thanks for sharing ! Sounds like a great experience. One to add to the list!
Another data point.. currently staying at the Art’otel London Hoxton. A very nice hotel (my first time here). They acknowledged my VIP membership at check-in and confirmed free breakfast and ‘a beautiful upgrade’. They put be in their top category non-suite room (“Art Studio”). It’s spacious, modern and has great views from 16th floor. No other benefits were offered.

Did you get a welcome gift?

Nope. The breakfast was very impressive though – a la carte, good choices and quality ingredients.

We did three rooms in October on a weekend and got three upgrades to suites!
Just been looking at the art’otel battersea, price seems to be jumping up when signed into ‘VIP’. Example 1 feb when not logged in offered £217 room only, b&b £253.30, both rates require joining as a member. Log in as a VIP, only rate offered room only with free VIP breakfast £250.50.
Has anyone else noticed anything similar?
New to the forum but long time reader/subscriber. I recently took advantage of Radisson’s free VIP sign up scheme which gave anyone a years free VIP status which brings a huge amount of perks free….
Just the thread I was looking for! Great to hear you’ve had so much successful suite upgrades with only a standard room booking. I was working on the theory the better room booked the higher possibility of a suite so I think I will change tactics now after mixed success.

Yes – seems to be related to the winter sale. The winter sale prices are lower than the VIP discount. When you log in it seems to default you to the VIP discount and kick out the sale. You can add the sale back manually with the promo code JANSL25.
Name: Glasgow Radisson Red
City: Glasgow, UK
Upgraded? Yes, 6 rooms to superior rooms
Lounge Access: No lounge
Service: 10/10
Overall rating for price: 10/10
Comments: 1st experience of a red. Very funky decor. Staff were so helpful. No suite upgrades, but hotel was busy and with 6 rooms on booking all upgraded. Breakfast was top tier. Couple of admin issues with the room allocation but quickly rectified. Circa £65 per room – cannot fault it for this price.Park plaza London riverbank

No lounge access offered, but really the free breakfast was the advantage and anything else a bonus after booking the cheapest rate going…We stayed there Fri 10th. Upgraded to high floor delux (non-suite), bathrobes, nespresso. No lounge access but yes very nice breakfast (no teapots though!). Pool OK but prebook required as not large. Useful buses past the hotel as well as excellent connections from Vauxhall or Lambeth bridge.
Casual lurker for the past year, but new to the forum. I wanted to share another data point.
Stayed at the Radisson Blu Prague last weekend and got upgraded to a Junior Suite. Apparently could have waited a few hours to get a bigger suite on a higher floor, but since they couldn’t confirm when the room will be available and we were checking in early (around 12pm), we took the junior suite which was still a pretty decent room and very quiet. Breakfast was average, nothing special.
Very useful thread. I’ve also got VIP and we’re booked into Red Heathrow next month. Has anyone got any experience? It looks to me like there’s a lounge but it’s hard to tell for sure.
In the last few weeks:
Radisson Blu Glasgow: Upgraded to a mini suite and free breakfast. Wasn’t around enough to check if there was a lounge but service was good.
Radisson Blu Yas Island: upgraded to Premium room with lounge access, free breakfast and free early check-in. Lounge was good with ok food and free alcohol 6-8pm.
Radisson Blu Dubai Waterfront: upgraded from basis room to Premium with lounge access and free breakfast. Lounge good with limited alcohol hours.
All also gave 15% discount on food and non alcoholic beverages if needed.
I’m more than satisfied so far.
Name: Park Plaza Westminster Bridge
City: London
Upgraded? Yes to a “Suite Studio”
Lounge Access: Yes
Comments: Picked this after Park Plaza London Riverside told me that lounge access wasn’t free for VIP members, but Westminster Bridge said it was. Nice hotel, but really big and very full when we stayed, so very busy. Initially upgraded to “Studio King” but then to “Suite Studio” when I asked at reception (as it was a special occasion for us). I doubt there was much difference in these rooms, but the suite was on one of the top three floors which are “suite floors” with their own lift. View was not good unfortunately, euphemistically called a “city” view, our room was directly opposite a student accommodation tower, but I guess if I wanted a view I should have paid for one.The main benefit was the lounge which was great, always quiet, and amazing view of Big Ben. There was a big queue for the main breakfast room on both days we stayed, so great to be able to use the lounge, which was calm. We also used it once for evening prosecco and canapes and saw a lovely sunset behind the houses if parliament, again very quiet only 5 to 10 other people in there, despite the rest of the hotel being absolutely rammed.
Enjoyed using the pool and sauna (steam room out of service).
A few minor quibbles (no water bottles provided in the rooms, body wash empty in both shower and bath, one broken lift meaning access to the exec lounge involved changing lifts in the lobby)… But all pretty first world problems though really.
Overall an enjoyable stay, made special by the lounge access, and great location.
I booked to stay in the lowest priced room at Raddison Blu Covent Garden (Mercer Street). No mention of my VIP status at check in (although it was a trainee member of staff). I was upgraded to a corner suite however which was nice and roomy with a walk in wardrobe and separate seating area. Breakfast was decent, with the ability to order eggs from the kitchen. Finally enough, my upgrade was mentioned when I checked out. Well worth it for less than £200 a night.
Just stayed at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge. VIP status entitled me by default to free breakfast and access to a very nice – and very quiet – executive lounge with great views of Big Ben and a good range of alcohol (inc spirits) served from 5.30pm. Room upgraded too and with a little extra coaxing received a further upgrade to a top floor studio suite with views of the London Eye…a good result given that my original entry-level room was heavily discounted (Jan sale promo + Discount Booster). I also received a 2pm late check-out without any major push.
Hello, trying to make a reservation but it keeps saying my Amex is an invalid card to guarantee the reservation, anyone else had similar issues? Any fix?
Looking at Radisson properties currently in London.
How do you know if they have lounges? I cannot see this indicated anywhere on any of the properties..
When on a hotel or choice. I click the “discover services” button but there’s no icon or anything to suggest otherwise.

Radisson York:
Very little they could do here, frankly, since it’s a converted Park Inn with no suites or indeed premium rooms. I got what I thought I get – upgraded to a high floor room with a view of York Minster which is as good as it gets. Had booked cheapest room. Plus free breakfast of course.
Whilst a shockingly ugly 1960s building, it was quite pleasant in a Hampton Inn kind of way (note it’s a rarely spotted Radisson, not the smarter Radisson Blu or Radisson RED). The view – it’s built on the banks of the river – really made it. Staying on the street side is probably a bit depressing.
It was only refurbished in the last 18 months or so and is in very good nick.
Yes, we stayed there a few years ago and enjoyed our 2 night stay.
HI, stayed at the Radisson Blu Birmingham on Sunday night. Paid for the cheapest room. In fact I used points to part pay for the room, so the cash price was £9. Upgraded to a one bedroom corner suite. Of course there was comp breakfast. A couple of things to note:
1. A turndown service was avaiable by request. While I like a turndown service, it is decadent, too decadent for me to ask for one.
2. Asked for VIP discount at the bar and got 20% off our drinks. According to the app, the VIP discount is 15% – I didn’t argue.
I don’t know when the hotel opened but the decor is looking a bit tired. Not that I am complaining £9 for suite and breakfast is a bargain. My next Radisson stay will be the Blu Leeds in about a month’s time – will report back then.

?? If they offer room types that include lounge then it’s a good bet there is a lounge at the hotel. If no such room types, I would assume no lounge.
