It’s only really worth using avios for short-haul flights if you’re travelling at very expensive times like school holidays.
This is especially the case if you’re starting in the regions, as you have to pay for the domestic flight, e.g. I just booked MAN-LHR-VLC for cash (as part of a BAH), as 24k avios plus £70 for 2 of us (one way) is just terrible value (and would be a poor use of the 241, if used on a return trip for 2).So it really depends on your personal circumstances, and also if you have the time and energy to engage in the referral/SUB strategy to build your avios balance back up.
Don’t think I’ve the patience for the long game haha maybe was nice to use this once at least!
