Barclays Cashback Rewards is now available for Premier customers (with or without Avios Rewards), and offers “1% cashback on all eligible debit card spending between 4th September and 30th November 2024”.
Max £5 each month. “Cash transactions” excluded.
Might be useful to some.
They haven’t communicated anything about this to me, as a Premier customer and Blue Rewards member.
I suppose for me it’s an extra £500 spend/ £5 cashback for when I exceed my Chase limit of £1500.
It seems a lot of effort to go to for only three months though!
These sorts of promotions confuse me. The potential to get a £5 per month cash back, at 1% for 3 months is surely not going to shift the behaviour of many earning >75k a year? Some people will get a little bonus from their usual activities, but most probably won’t notice. Just not sure what the point is?
I don’t get Barclays Premier. £3 a month for having a mortgage with them, etc. Doesn’t feel “premier” at all if you are changing your spending habits for £5 a month.
Some confusion above I think. Blue Rewards for Premier is over as of yesterday. No cash cash rewards any more (for anyone). The new Blue Rewards offer is worthless for Premier customers as they have all the benefits for free, so all Premier customers were disenrolled yesterday.
This should all have been communicated to affected customers in detail, and if it hasn’t I’d be raising a complaint about that.
Blue Rewards was never a Premier-exclusive thing, and indeed Blue Rewards remains for non-Premier customers, at £5/month.
The upshot is that Premier is actually much improved now – access to the 5% easy access savings, Apple TV+ (with MLS if that’s of use) and this cashback offer, for no fee.
The Avios offer stacks on top of this if it’s of use (it isn’t to me since I cash out via Nectar, and I don’t have a mortgage).
Thanks @WillPS. That makes sense, and explains it much more clearly than the emails I got!
How does one go about registering for this?
The website suggests that I should “register in the Barclays app”. I can’t see Cashback Rewards mentioned anywhere within the app though… (The “Rewards” tab just details my Avios Rewards. There is another “Rewards” banner on the main screen, but I only have an insurance offer under this).
It was definitely in the app – I just signed up 30 minutes ago. I can’t remember where in the app it was, sorry!
It takes you to a registration screen, then you click through to see your Cashback Rewards, which opens in a browser. The 1% offer appears there.
Actually, try Products > Blue Rewards > Cashback Rewards.
Hmm. That prompts me to join Blue Rewards and accept the terms for it including £5 monthly fee. Obviously don’t want to do that (especially if it might interfere with Avios Rewards!)
I might have to give Barclays a call…
Your card needs to be registered with Blue Rewards to enable you to get the 1% cashback, but it’s free for Premier account holders.
Managed to find it eventually.
It’s under Products > Premier Banking > Explore all Premier Benefits > Rewards > Barclays Cashback Rewards > Register Now.
Says it may take up to 48 hours to activate, but I did receive a pretty instant “Welcome to Barclays Cashback Rewards” email.
Just signed up, everything seemed to work pretty instantly , able see the various cashback offers
Page layout and offers they have are very similar the Virgin Credit Card cashback page

This is correct – you shouldn’t go via Blue Rewards as a Premier customer, go to the Premier menu.
The 48 hours is for the ‘on card’ element to kick in – it relies on overnight batch processes. The same lag is there when you enroll any Visa or Mastercard in any oncard cashback scheme.
