I have a 2-4-1 companion voucher flight booked.
Unfortunately in the interim, i have split up with my partner – am i able to change the booking to allow me to travel alone? I.e. remove my ex from the booking?
Many thanks for your help.
I think you’ll have to cancel the whole booking, and rebook. I’ve found that seats go back into inventory and avios returned immediately, but there’s no guarantee of this. YMMV.
If it’s long haul, you’ll be charged £35pp, but if its short haul, you’ll likely only be charged £1pp, although it’s supposed to be £35pp, too.
Could be worth asking, they’d need to split the booking, cancel them and refund you half your Avios
Otherwise when did you book and when are you travelling? If you’re a couple of months out and you booked out of the original allocation of seats then they’d likely reappear as @aq.1988 says
It might be better value to cancel the whole thing and rebook using the voucher for 50% avios discount, bearing in mind the expiry date of the 241.
I don’t think you’d get any avios back from simply having the 2nd person removed from the booking as they don’t pay any on a 241 booking.
Thanks for your answers guys.
It’s about 2 months away, LGW-CUN in club.
I actually have someone who’d like to come with me now, but I’m aware that name changes aren’t possible.
I’m just a bit twitchy about cancelling the whole thing in the hope that they become re-available.
In your experience, do you think I have a fair chance of rebooking?
At the moment, there’s no seats available for companion voucher booking 😬
Assuming it’s the new-style voucher (I would think it has to be), someone who has an unused one currently could have a look to see whether there’s “extra” availability.
As a last resort, go somewhere else, or use the 241 to get to the USA (possibly in F!) and connect from there. This should be fairly easily with CUN being so popular with Americans.
SeatSpy is showing lots of F availability for ATL in Feb, I know what I’d go for!

Amazing! Nice idea – thanks so much for that x
If i book that now on a 241, do you know whether i can cancel it within a period of time for no fee?
