Has anyone received two lots of welcome bonuses?
I signed up to the gold when they had the 30k points offer for spending £3k. I met that and received points. Recently I noticed a separate welcome offer showing 20k points for spending £3k and it had the usual purchase countdown until I receive it and also an expiry date of end of Jan. is this real or just a software glitch?

Yes I have been credited with the 20k in addition to the 30k, plus the “Rewards as you go Bonus” boost for spending 5k. I believe it’s a glitch as the blurb in the UI said something vaguely non-sensical like “excluding existing bonuses”. Even though the ‘countdown’ was showing progress against the bonus I didn’t expect to be credited with the points, but I was (on 4th January).
Of course they might still remove it but I had just booked a holiday so all I had to do to hit it was pay it a bit earlier than necessary, so figured I might as well try.

Happy days. Personally I’d be looking to use the points ie transfer them out asap. If it is a mistake and Amex takes them back you’ll be left with a negative balance – then you can just close the account with no consequence.
I’m glad I found someone else “affected” by this! I posted about this myself a few weeks ago on this forum, as I noticed the second 20K point offer counting down.
I actually gave AMEX a call about this on Jan 6th and wanted to know if it is genuine (I wasn’t sure I could spend another 3K so thought sod it, I might as well just ask them about it). Lady I chatted to opened a case and then called back and said that it is probably a glitch since they don’t do more than one welcome bonus, but 10 days later the promo message was still there, counting down so it can’t have been a priority for them to remove it. As it happened I spent a lot of money on the card over the weekend and today I got the 20,000 extra points automatically…
I am going to covert them to Avios and then Nectar as soon as possible. I feel like I gave them an opportunity to remove the offer and would not have been mad if they’d done that earlier, but nothing happened and now I want to keep my points :-))

So you proceeded to alert AMEX about a potential glitch because you were concerned about not spending enough to meet the limit (and potentially jeopardising for others), but still went ahead with the spend and got the points…
Its not like the outcome of the “case” would have been – “oh its a glitch but here are the points anyway…what were you expecting”
