Forums Hotel loyalty schemes IHG One Rewards +2000 pts/night rate – points not qualifying for status?

I paid £10/night more on a recent stay for a rate that gave 2000 extra points per night (rather than going with best flexible rate) as I’m trying to hit diamond. These bonus points showed up as non-qualifying for status purposes. Should they be qualifying points? I thought they used to be

They used to be, but there are different types of bonus point packages out there. Some are qualifying and some are not.

Which hotel and did you book the flex rate on the IHG website? Some hotels offer bonus point packages themselves, rather than the centrally controlled add-ons to the IHG flex rate. It coukd be that the former do not qualify. Worth querying anyway and telling us here as this will alter many of our stategies

Thanks. Staybridge Newcastle. I’d booked the add-on to the flex rate (and noticed that this is advertised as elite qualifying in the app during the booking process). Will contact IHG if the points don’t become qualifying, and post my result here.
