Forums Other Destination advice 21 underrated destinations in Europe for 2025

  • freckles 245 posts

Time out have published a list of lesser travelled destinations:

    https://www.timeout.com/europe/travel/most-underrated-travel-destinations-europe

One that does surprise me is Pamukkale in Turkey – I’m sure Turkey themselves wanted to specifically limit numbers to avoid damage to the pools!

Our friend Plovdiv makes an appearance – that could mean an end to quiet visits from Sofia trips.

Yes, I dread it when people publish these lists in case places one likes appear. Generally, they are also way behind the times or there’s a hidden reason somewhere isn’t popular. One is much better doing one’s own research / making ones own discoveries.

Nooooooooo !! The dreaded lists. A bit like the Lonely Planet chosen countries by year. I scroll hoping that certain places aren’t listed.

Thankfully a handful of the better places on this Time Out list are still quite difficult/time consuming to get too, so won’t be spoilt by over tourism any time soon.

Agree with @JBD – best to make ones own discoveries.

Thought it was average on my iPad. There are plenty of worse offenders.

Wanderlust used to be a great mag, but over half the articles are now sponsored content. I guess it’s hard to make the model work these days. Still, it’s not as bad as CN Traveller which seems to be entirely content free.
