She who must be obeyed wants to see this show for our anniversary ( OK with me as I liked ABBA even during my punk days… ) would be a midweek in March, and travelling by train into Paddington.
Appreciate advice/experience on which seating area to go for, where to stay ( one night ) etc
Thanks !
I’ve just seen it for the 2nd time, it’s mind-blowing.
I’d say stay near the arena if you’re not bothered about being in central London. I’m down for the weekend so staying near the Tower of London – Uber each way last night was under £18 so still a reasonable option.
First time was with a coach party and we sat quite high up – not recommended as the figures look teeny from there and you can’t see them properly. Last night we were on the dance floor – I’m quite short but could still see most of it and it was a much better experience, though very busy. Definitely go midweek when it should be less rammed.
If you want to be seated, I think the first couple of rows back from the dance floor would give you the best view.
The first time, you’ll just be getting your head around what you’re seeing (unless you’re an expert on LED technology!) I’m already planning a 3rd visit 🕺
It’s not a huge venue so even when it’s sold out the queues for the bar and cloakrooms are bearable.
Feel free to ask any more questions!
*Loved Abba as a child, through my 80s goth days, and beyond …
Also, it’s ABBA Voyage 😂
To be fair, Abba Voyager would be a great Kennedy Space Center tie-in!!
Or a re-boot of Star Trek Voyager with ABBA holograms as new characters 😂
I did read the other day that they only have the venue until early 2026, when the land will be used to build housing 😱. We were speculating where they might move to – Vegas, Paris, Blackpool 🤷♀️
Wife went yesterday, and the system conked out after the first song. Back up and running 25 minutes later, only to fail again for another half hour. Eventually they must have tried turning it off and on again, because the rest of the show went off without a hitch. A bit more booze was consumed however due to the delays, maybe that was their plan all along?
Thanks for the feedback. The morning after the show we are thinking of visiting Tower of London ( didn’t get round to it last time ) so not sure whether to say near there or near abba show, as you say the uber is reasonable.
The dance floor sounds fun but we are both on the shortarse spectrum:-) and I have a dodgy knee, which won’t appreciate 90 mins of dad dancing !So most likely go for seats, but I will sort out the trains first.

Sadly we were never treated to a Buffy-esque musical episode.
“Once more with feeling, Mr Tuvok.”
I believe the two Hyatt’s in Westfield are walkable to the show, and are generally good value.
Can get Elizabeth Line direct to Stratford from Paddington.
@phantomchickenz, was she at the matinee, the evening performance was fine?
@meta, yes, clapping and cheering the light-emitting diodes, that is also very weird! (though there is a human band plus backing singers who deserve applause as well).
@masaccio, that was my favourite episode ever! Spike properly getting his Billy Idol on 😂@captaindave, I am so done with trains. For my trip down here at the early May bank holiday with OH I am thinking MAN-LHR return on BA which is £75 each!! Then Piccadilly line which drops us across the road from ICPL.
I am currently at the Doubletree Tower of London which is very nice indeed for a DT, booked 3 rooms on my account (days of sharing with friends are over!), all of us given lounge access, a cocktail voucher each plus option of restaurant breakfast. Very reasonably priced for this London also!

Yes, while I stayed home with the kids looking for my next redemption 😉
That’s very unlucky; you would hope they were offered free tickets for another show.
I’m trying to get OH interested in coming with me next time. Told him the technology would interest him because of his current job but he pointed out that unfortunately he doesn’t have ABBA’s £140 million budget to play with.
I hope it stays in the U.K. Apparently it’s contributed £1.4 billion to the economy in 2 years!
@NorthernLass. So pleased you enjoyed it. I’ve been twice – once with friends and once with daughter. Everyone has loved it. You must visit the ABBA Museum in Stockholm. I really enjoyed the visit. My daughter refused to come with me and visited Skansen open air museum instead. She now wants to go back to Stockholm to visit the ABBA Museum! That’s daughters for you!
I would love to visit the ABBA museum, one of my friends went there years ago and raved about it.
People forget just how adored they were in the U.K. in their heyday. As little girls at school we would pretend to be either Agnetha or Frida and sing into our hairbrushes. Our mums would debate how personal the lyrics of the songs actually were. We were devastated as a nation when they split up.
In the late 80s/early 90s, “70s night” became a thing in nightclubs and ABBA got a new lease of life. There was a club in Leeds called Ricky’s where 70s night was on a Tuesday and was one of the best nights of the week. The DJs there went on to become quite famous as the Utah Saints.
Loving this thread! Better than reading about the BA shenanigans;-)
Anyway as I was about to pay for show tickets, ticket Master kicked me out from checkout as it timed out while I authorised payment from Cc app.
Made do a bit of a rain check… 185 each near the front of section H…. that’s even double what Villa charge for champions league games !!.But the boss said its only money, so will still go for it.
Funny enough found my copy of Take a chance on me in my old record box, looked a bit out of place amongst the other stuff, but great tune. Also read that the pistols were ahem “influenced” by the bass line on SOS, for Pretty Vacant haha 😄
Great music is great music!
That is a bit spendy – we paid just over £100 each for the dance floor tickets, but your knees do need to be up to it.
It would be awesome if other ageing bands did something similar, we were saying Queen would be amazing and they could have Freddie back.
2 tickets for the Voyager booked – 2nd row in Block H.
Double Tree is coming up quite expensive for a midweek one night stay – nearly 300…
My OH wants to see the current version of Queen ( she thinks Adam Lambert is amazing ) Queen aint my cup of tea really, did like the early stuff, Sheer Heart Attack album sort of era.
Queen with Adam Lambert are great….though of course no one could replace Freddie
For my misfortune, one Saturday afternoon a couple of summers back, I got off the DLR over that way shortly after the matinee performance had kicked out. In a bid at crowd control, DLR staff were holding back a surging mass that was 30% Prosecco, 30% oestrogen and 40% feather boa. Was an “interesting” experience…

I wonder what Taylor Swift fans will look like in 30 years

You should try a Take That exodus……more like 50% alcohol, 20% oestrogen and 30% I’m not sure what!
Oh yes, you’ll spot other attendees a mile off!
I should have added, wear what you want. People go normally dressed/nod to the 70s/full-on ABBA, whatever you like!
I like Adam Lambert (especially “Lay Me Down” with the also-missed Avicii), but he’s no Freddie 😩

@Rob – thank you
