I’m flying from T3 next week with my family in PE and have FC Gold status which gives me access (under the newish rules) to the upper class wing. Virgin however state that access is for the card holder plus one so do I need to chuck my kids out at the bottom of the ramp 🙂 Seems a strange rule which doesn’t necessarily account for families travelling together. Any advice or recent experience would be appreciated!
It’s +1 guest so I’d say that’s a no, but you’d be OK using the UC desks in the main terminal
Just go and see what happens! Unless your kids are 20… (someone on another forum neglected to say this until after there were a lot of helpful, but ultimately useless replies)
The problem is everyone wants to stretch the rules at the same time around the school holidays. So airlines are usually pretty strict about it.
It has been a long time since I had Virgin gold but I always remember finding them real sticklers for the rules and had a couple of awkward interactions with them when I was absolutely fine (e.g. lounge access on an economy award flight) . It was one of the reasons I switched to BA originally, I just found them very snooty in many ways and it didn’t seem like I fitted into their crowd !
Thanks all – following your replies I called the Gold line to save some embarrassment and was passed to the UC team as none of the regular handlers knew the answer (my kids are 8 and 13). They actually spoke to the supervisor at the wing and confirmed it would be fine. They were really nice about it and went out their way to answer the question so I hope this helps others on the forum!
