Called BAEC and was told I couldn’t add a 241 to a return redemption we have booked to UVF next month. I would need to upgrade or add return to an outbound to be able to use the voucher on an existing booking. I see zero chance of CW availability appearing between now and flying (it’s the Jubilee half term). 241 on WTP is not the best value but I have other voucher bookings stacked up and no other chance to spend it.
I thought I’d read people had had success with this?
It’s never been something BA would officially do, a couple of people might have had accommodating CSAs who were prepared to do it though, so you could always HUACA if waiting times aren’t too dire.
There’s also the option of cancelling your trip and seeing if the VW seats reappear but I wouldn’t risk it so near to the travel date, tbh.
Just to clarify – you have booked a return trip using avios and now want to apply a 241 voucher and get half the avios back?
I’m trying to think now whether this is actually what people have been able to do or whether it was a couple of people who managed to get BA to swap older vouchers for newer ones they had used inadvertently for a booking.

Booked a return with Avios without a 241 and now I have a 241 from a cancellation that I want to add to the booking. I don’t want to cancel and rebook as I’ve paid BA for the hotels now and it’s a very popular week so high risk of losing the reward seats

You can’t add a 241 retrospectively. Some people managed to swap out vouchers that had already been applied for ones that had been returned with dates that were expiring sooner or they had simple used wrong voucher, but that’s not the norm.
You’ve never been able to add 241 after you’ve already booked. Can you just imagine people would be booking flights before they had earned voucher then phoning up weeks/months later and trying to get them applied. Just be happy you have flights and be optimistic you won’t be cancelled.
