A random one, an events company have booked a trip that includes an outbound BA flight for me and 3 others. Obviously booked under our names. I’ve added the booking to my BA account and I can see all the names and the option to add a frequent flyer number to each person. It’s asking us to pay to select seats.
I have BA bronze but also RJ gold sparrow. Is there a way I can use my Gold Sparrow status to therefore choose seats now for all of us? If I added my frequent flyer number to each person where it asks for it, would this even work? I can add it via another oneworld partner if needed. I guess the main question is if I as one of 4 passengers on the booking have status, can I use that to book seats for everyone? Especially as I didn’t technically make the booking/pay for it.
Try it via the Finnair website under manage my booking as you can make the frequent flyer number changes there easier.
@dundj – I think you will find a flock of new Jordanian sparrows has sh*t all over Finnair so it’s currently non-op for alien bookings.
@JDB that is a worse than a flock of seagulls fighting over the last dropped chip on the pier.
Can I add my own FF number for every passenger though? Or if I just do mine can I then use my status to select seats for everyone in the group booking?
I don’t need to use a partner site as the BA app is asking me for the FF number. So I guess I can use the RJ number there.

No, your BAEC number should be automatically verified, so it shouldn’t be possible to enter against another passenger or indeed to have the same FFN in one booking in the same field. With your new elevated status, for a normal booking, everyone on that PNR should benefit from the highest pax status but it might be different for a group booking as that might seem to give away a bit too much.
Thanks. I’ve tried entering my RJ number and it does successfully allow me to choose seats now for all passengers in the group booking. Looks like dialaflight booked it for us. Good result.
I think the key point here is four passengers. From a BA perspective a group booking is more than nine, and with typical tour operator group trips you don’t get individual access to the booking and can’t do anything until airport check in.
For four people it’s just a regular booking, the same as if you booked it yourself. Hence one person adds their status and all benefit as appropriate.
