Forums Frequent flyer programs The British Airways Club Adding member to BA household account

  • 143 posts

Trying to add my daughter to my BA household account as we have an upcoming flight in a few months.

I’ve sent the invite, clicked the email invite link filled in the details and all I get is this:
‘Error. Sorry there’s a problem with our systems. Please try again and if it still doesn’t work you might want to try again later’.

Anyone else experienced similar? I knew BAs IT was hopeless so never expected it to work the first time round but I’ve been trying for the last week now.

    Yep, there’s a workaround:

It worked for a few of us at least!

Thanks for sending that – unfortunately reading the workaround it looks like you need to copy and paste the url into Mac browser.
Don’t have a Mac unfortunately. So looks like I’ll have to call BA.

I don’t think you need a Mac for that!

The trick is to copy the URL link and paste it on Google Chrome while on incognito mode. That should work on a windows computer, Chromebooks etc.

    Unfortunately not.

Just tried it on windows pc – copying url in chrome incognito mode.
Also repeated the steps on iPhone via chrome app but the same error.

With the URL link to be pasted, is it the page where you confirm the DOB of the head of household?
Just want to make sure I’m copying the correct url.

Yes that’s the page (which I’m assuming you’re picking up the link from the invitation email).

Sorry to hear it’s not working for you – how annoying!!

Maybe try pasting it on Safari on private mode?

Yes that’s from the link in the email.
Already tried safari in private mode and exact same issue.
For my daughter’s email address, I put mine down so I’m actually getting her invitation emails – presume that’s not an issue?
    I’ll try calling BA tomorrow.

Re emails: I used my child’s email account for the invite and for their username. I assumed it wouldn’t work using my own email as that would be registered as a BA account!

Thanks for that! So it looks like that was the issue all along! I assigned her my other email address as she doesn’t have one of her own.
But didn’t even need to open in chrome incognito mode – worked fine in normal browser.
