Hi, me and my partner have 247k avios between us currently, and the BAPP 241 voucher ready to use.
We have not done any redemption flights yet, so are unaware of how the system fully works/all the tips and tricks.
We will be going to Australia in October or November this year, to stay for around 2 years, with trips back to the UK.
Am I correct that it is too late to be able to redeem our avios and voucher to get to Australia? Using BA’s reward flight search feature it seems that there are no premium economy/business/first class seats in the next year? Is this correct?
It seems the only other airlines we can use the voucher on are Iberia and Aer Lingus, neither of which fly to australia as far as I am aware, so it seems there is no obvious way of being able to redeem our voucher and points at this time?
Any advice will be appreciated.
You’ll definitely struggle to get to Sydney at this stage.
But if you have flexibility with you dates you may have other options.
Often there’s last minute availability to somewhere en route! For example I can see 2x business class seats on BA on 24, 26,27, 28 and 29th August to Singapore. Not Australia granted but a very good way towards it!
You can(and should!) set up an alert on either seatspy, seats.aero or RFF to see if anything comes up. If you see a flight you fancy, take it. You can cancel, but generally reward flights don’t hang around for long.
