I booked an Avios business flight to Australia for next feb.
Just had a email my flight has been cancelled and I’ve been offered a flight 3 days later .( no good to me as I’m going a a wedding).
The flight is still showing as available with full fare business available.
Is this a scam to resell my seat for full fare?
What are my options here?
I booked through BA on a Qatar flight via DOH.
@captrik – you are more likely to resolve this by being nice, so I would avoid using words like “scam”. While you have strong legal rights following a cancellation, it can be tricky to get QR to cooperate with BA.
You need to call BA and hope you fall upon a helpful agent to get you rebooked applying BA’s policies which are more flexible than Qatar’s. One question is whether it’s your booking that’s been cancelled rather than the flight itself as you suggest it appears to be operating with cash business seats open for sale. Do you know if your booking was ticketed because that can be a reason for QR cancelling a booking? If that’s the case, it shouldn’t be too difficult to get BA to re-instate. Otherwise, if your originally booked flight is cancelled, BA should rebook you on another suitable one and they don’t need Avios seats to be available, but they usually need to clear it with QR via the oneworld desk and QR may not agree.
