Ambassador Free Weekend Night voucher expiry

Hi All.
Some help please.
My free weekend night Ambassador voucher expires 31 August. I won’t be able to use it before then.
As long as I book before 31 August, will I be able to book a hotel somewhere for September or October? Thanks.

No. The voucher needs to be sitting in your account when you check-in and it will disappear as soon as it expires.

You can ask for once in a lifetime extension of your Ambassador membership for six months I believe that also extends the current voucher.

Just an update – I called IHG and discussed the once in a lifetime extension option. Unfortunately, the extension extends your membership by 6 months, but does not also extend any vouchers on your account.

I wasn’t aware of this option. My ambassador status expires on November and was planning to renew it to get Diamond one more year. Do you know if extending through this route would also extend mu Diamond status? Thanks!
